  1. Thanks Andy, whereabouts does the tube terminate ?
  2. Note to Admin - the posting system appears to have a glitch. It gave no indication that my latest post (above with pics) had been accepted, but I checked before re-posting, and it had posted successfully. I see that Pete and Andy had a similar problem :)

  4. Thanks Pete and Andy. At least I know it's a retro fit and not some design glitch. Actually when I think about it, it's obviously a check to make sure the correct fuel is being put it, which in a way is a good thing, having two other cars that are petrol ! . And looking further (as I sometimes do, but rarely these days) it says "Fuel Sure" embossed in the plastic So I might keep it in case of an attack of codgerism, but it makes it a bit messy when I come to fill up - but rather mess that problems I s'pose Thanks for the thought on the liquid Andy - I think it is water with a tad of diluted diesel, Is there any way to clear the drain tube ? I had the same problem with a soft-top Z4 once. (By the way, she's grey, not blue as appears in those pictures of the cap)
  5. Hi Please excuse my ignorance, I have just picked up my 06 plate 2.7D SE, and filled it up prior to my first run out (it was a wonderful drive) The fuelling system leaves a lot to be desired, and I know will drive me crazy. There is a ridiculous hard plastic cap that can only be withdrawn using the pump nozzle - is there any viable alternative ? Also some diesel seems to be pooling in the receptacle. Any help gratefully received - thanks.
  6. Apologies if this should be included within another thread, but I couldn't find a suitable one. I did a search, and found myself posting on the X-Type Forum (I am new here !) So here goes : I am more confused than I was (Mind you, that's not difficult) I have just bought an 06 plate S-Type 2.7D auto SE - I always like to change the oil in any car I have regularly. I went on the the Opie Oils site, and searched for the correct oil for the car. It came up with this : Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start 5W-30 A5 Fully Synthetic Car Engine Oil But as the car has a DPF (at least I think it has, I pick it up next week) then surely the C1 spec oil is a better prospect ? Please can anyone enlighten this old codger ? Many thanks (And thanks to those that replied on tin the X-Type Forum)
  7. Apologies, this should have been in the S Type mhread !

  9. Hi Folks It's been six years since I owned an S Type - it was the first Jaguar I had, and turned oiut to be a bleeping nightmare. I had wanted a gold manual 3.0 litre V6, and eventually found one in Wakefield. Looked great inside and out, drove well (at the time) and it wasn't until I got it home and handed it over to a mechanic friend of mine, who put it up on his hoist, that the nightmare started. The dealer had wired a piece of carpet under the bell housing - very discretely, so it couldn't be seen from an eyeball inspection. It also turned out to be wreck, with faults that shoud not have passed an MOT (but, somehow, had !!!!!!) Anyway, enough of that. I have taken the plunge and bought another. An '06 plate 2.7D SE auromatic (having done me homework), and bought it from a very respectable garage (Worlingham Motors in Suffolk), with a full Jaguar service history - a big mistake I made last time ! So.......... Hello
