  1. Firstly, thanks to all those who contributed to 'Changing a headlight bulb' which I tried today and gave up. However, I will now have another go thanks to the illustrations provided. The other problem I have now is that the rotating air grill to the left of the the centre LCD screen has stopped working automatically. I bought a second hand one and it doesn't look too difficult to replace so I am keen to have a go but I don't want to damage the facia trying to remove it. Can anybody give advice on how to do this please?
  2. Thanks to all for the advice, I definitely won't be using T-Cut and have already had a chat with my local garage who will look at it and see if they can buffer the scratches out.
  3. I picked up some superficial scratches on both sides of my car whilst driving on very narrow roads with hedges on both sides. they run the length of the car and my first thought was to use some 'Tee-cut' to polish them out but the bodywork is a lacquer finish and I am a little concerned that I might damage it. Can anybody offer advice on this please?
  4. Hi Edgarpole, welcome to the forum and thanks for the information. Since my last posting I'm having more problems and now I can't open the boot without the alarm going off and the boot light doesn't work so it looks like more wires in the loom have broken. I was going to have a look at it myself and try to fix them because I didn't know that you could replace the loom so easy, so after reading your comments I rang my local garage and booked it in. That should keep me going for another 8yrs or so, providing I keep the car that long!
  5. My car is a 2007 XF and when the car is locked and the alarm is on I used to be able to open the boot lid without the alarm going off and then close it to reset the alarm. Now the alarm goes off when I open the lid and I have to stop it using the key fob. Does anybody have any experience of this and what might be causing it? I wondered if it might be something to do with the wires in the loom going from the car to the boot, possibly broken but not sure!
  6. Hi Dave, Thanks for the tip, my car just developed the same problem and I was thinking of taking it into the garage after New Year until I read your comments. I checked the wiring loom and two of the black wires were broken so I fixed them and hey presto! I must say though that it wasn't as easy as you made it sound because there is no spare cable to pull through to make the join and you need three hands in a small space and plenty of patience. I didn't have any crimping connectors so had to solder them! don't know how long it will last but keeping fingers crossed. PS: Where do you get the crimping connectors from because might be worth getting some for future problems.
  7. Thanks V6Leaper, it's worth a try so I will have a go and keep my fingers crossed!
  8. Thanks Dewellia but it doesn't lose its settings you simply can't retrieve them because pressing the buttons has no effect and suddenly it will start working again!
  9. I have one of the first models, which is a 2007 Jaguar XF 3.0L V6 Luxury Petrol with only 72,000 miles on the clock and it drives like a dream but for one annoying thing. There are two memory settings for the drivers seat, which sometimes work and sometimes don't so it's been into the garage for diagnostic checks but they can't find anything wrong. Does anybody else have any experience of this and what the cause might be?
