  1. Hi, help with this would be much appreciated. How do I remove the long black rigid plastic panel that fits across the inside of boot between the rear light clusters. The panel has a hole in the top center which the boot latch keep pokes out of.. I have removed the carpet panel over the spare wheel and removed all the visible black screws and clips. The lower part of the panel is loose now but the top part is still fast. I can not see any screws or anything else that can be holding it. I have tried pulling at it but nothing gives. A bit wary of pulling too hard. Many thanks in anticipation. Old Bob
  2. Hi, I have just posted this in the Members Forum not realising there is a dedicated x-type forum. Now I know. I posted this: Since posting my last post regarding the removal of the external door B-Pillars on my 2005 x-type (which are not rusted but very badly scratched and gouged after a vandal attack), I have come across chrome stick-on ones that cover the existing pillars. They come as a set of six which includes the rear quarter light posts and costs around £60 plus postage. Having not seen them up close and personal, what is the verdict on them? Can you tell they are stick-on? Would they survive a hot summer which could affect the adhesive holding them on? Are they durable? Do they look cheap? Would they make a good substitute to having them removed and re-finished/ replaced at a cost of around £201? Would you recommend them? I would appreciate the opinion of anyone who has used them. Many thanks.

  4. Finally cracked it. Opened the locked glove box and removed offending lock. Now need a new handle. If I can't get a handle by itself then I will have to replace the lock/ handle completely. It's a bit complicated to explain how I did it. If I can find the time I will illustrate the solution with some photographs which might help others in the same situation.
  5. I have a 2005 Classic X type. All the external door B-Pillars need replacing as they are badly scratched. Not my doing I hasten to add. On checking the price to buy all four I have been quoted £141.00 plus £60 for fitting them. Total £201.00 Front pillars at £ 27.00 each, rear at £32 each plus vat = £141.00 If they are easy to remove, I could just sand them down, respray and put back and save quite a bit of money. Are they difficult to remove? I would be grateful if someone could explain clearly how to remove said pillars - or point me to somewhere I can get the information. Many thanks.
  6. Thanks for you're reply Peter. It is a standard glove box in a standard 2005 x type 2.0L Classic. I have found a couple of posts that may help.
  7. Hi, I have an 2005 X Type and the the glove box handle has come away with the compartment locked. How do I open a locked glove compartment with a completely detached handle? Any help is appreciated.
