  1. Near to Paisley, (a town called malice) in Renfrewshire Scotland 2.5 SE X Type estate
  2. Joe dot com interesting to read your comment about "get it up to 70 and check its quiet" My x type estate was quite noisy at 70 but not at other speeds, I changed all the tyres (they were a bit mismatched ) for GT radials The car was then much less noisy , but still there a bit of an increase in noise at 70MPG, but not at speeds above or below that, sounds like a diff type noise but if diff was worn you would hear it a various speeds. Never found an answer so decided to live with it. Other wise the car is a delight to drive and has proved more reliable than my previous range rover 4.2 Supercharged which went into a expensive sulk about twice a month.
  3. Changed all tyres for GT radials sport active, noise not quite gone but much better, car just gets a bit more noisy around 70mph , then noise goes after 75mph. Noise is much reduced after new tyres and is no longer a pulsing noise Tempted to just leave it now failing any response that might help
  4. Changed the wheels around today, and there was some difference , Noise is still there but definitely reduced. I don't really know how much noise you would expect from an X type with a few miles on it (around 80k). Could be that I am hearing "normal" transmission/tyre noise. However , I would expect it to be reasonably quiet at motorway speeds. It is not so difficult to change the diff but I think that if the diff was noisy you would hear it a various speeds, not just one (70mph in this case) In the end given that the rest of the car is in VGC, perhaps it is just a bit more noisy than I expected. I know that tyre choice can be an issue and some brands will increase road noise so I will look around the website to see what people say about what tyres to go for. A reply on tyre knowledge would be appreciated.
  5. I got the old thing up to 70 today for the first time , at first I thought I had left a window open as there was a repeating "wump wump wump" noise , you could actually feel it as well, not horrendous just slight, does not happen at 68 MPH just at 70 and does seem to be at the rear. Next thought was tyres , I checked them and they are all good and at right pressure. Local Indy jag specialist at a loss , they have never seen this before. An Jag owning acquaintance suggested that this is caused by airflow over the tail gate lifting the tailgate because the seal is worn . Don't fancy this idea much as the seal looks in good nick and there is no discernible movement in the tailgate once it closed. Next move is to swap the wheels front to back and see if it tranfsers the noise to the front , but clutching at straws , i think Any one seen this kind thing before ???
  6. Hi I had the same on my X Type estate I got the locking mechanisms changed on both tailgate and glass but then I thought I might have been inadvertently pressing the unlock button when turning the key to start. I know that if you press the LOCK Button once in the car and before you start the car it does prevent it popping open Paul
  7. Scrolled thru this thread , didn't see any in Scotland, but I can recommend Prestige Jaguar in Paisley 0141887 2861 (near St Mirren's new ground) Looked after my old Range Rover 4.2 SC and now the Type estate
  8. My iphone 5s Pairs OK with My 07 X Type 2.5 Estate, but once I leave the Car, I have to pair it all over again next time I get In. also i tried to down load my contacts using the hash tag code from the book, but the book says after entering hash Tag code "switch off Starter for 6 minutes" to allow upload . Thats makes no sense as the Bluetooth unit in the Car will be Off!! I did notice there are lots of the previous owners contacts in there which might be a problem, but a new upload (if I can get it to work) may just overwrite the old ones. So, Anyone know how to 1. delete all those old contacts 2. Keep the phone paired once ignition is switched Off 3. Download my Phone book thanks aircooledfool
  9. Thanks I did realise the previous owner has stuck this on, but I was really asking if the previous owner was on the forum and recognised their old car, long shot though, and yes I could have been more precise with my post. recognised their previous car
  10. Thankyou for the responses, mine has a decal on the tailgate , an outline of the Le Mans circuit. Perhaps some one on this forum may recognise it??
  11. Just got an X type 2.5 SE AWD Estate on a 57 plate. looks pampered and well maintained. Not my first Jag, but first one after a very long absence . Got rid of Range rover 4.2 Supercharged and we only had one car for a while , that did not please 'er indoors so bought this as a run about. Once I get to grips with it I will post my experiences , I am hoping they are not as painful as ownership of the range rover was, having to get the Old Enfield out on an icy day because the RR had gone into another sulk was no fun at all. The "Fullfat" range rover forum was excellent though (just as well). Dont want to tempt fate but I hope this one is as helpful /informative.
