  1. Not that I've already spent hours fixing leaks of coolant on the V8 and with an MOT looming I had the recurring issue of one wiper jet just not working. The pump seemed ok and I checked for leaks but couldn't find anything. The driver's side jet kept blocking up. This time I took a hose pipe, I've no idea how to remove the tank without silly work...and stuck it to flush out the said tank. Now I had very little water pressure. So I agitated the tank bottom, sides and any where else by wiggling, scraping and turning the hose end. Whilst it was slow, some impressive jelly and bits floated up and out over the top. I kept this up for a good 30 mins until clear. I turned the tap off which siphoned out the water so I feared a leak! Taking a jet clearing tool...a long dart like spike, I speared the jet firmly a number of times. A dribble turned into a full spray so I repeated windscreen cleaning to flush out and clear any debris. There are no leaks and the MOT was won albeit with some minor advisories. If your pump is working but your jets are blocked...this is a simple and worthwhile fix.
  2. Hi I've had a busy Easter with getting my S Type back in to roadworthy state. I've attached my experiences in a write-up. JAGUAR S TYPE Coolant leaks.pdf
  3. I won't jack this thread: I'll start another one...
  4. Next job is tank and its bottom hose. I think the caps ok...haven't got the tank out yet but suspecting a crack. the delay: Blummin wheel nuts over torqued on with one wrecked. I hammered on an impact socket as 19mm wouldn't slide on...god bless my new, cheapish but powerfull battery operated impact wrench. Undid it after 20 seconds...that's a long time thinking you might strip the bolt or shatter the nut! Weekend job🙄
  5. I had a water pump that collapsed but I heard audible warning so nursed it the few miles home despite coolant outing out and steam there was no overheating. More recent: plastic thermostat tower leak: replaced with a metal version and what a bugger of a job thanks to rear bolts you can't reach and the rad drain plug snapping...luckily cheap and old one came out with an 8mm Allen key. Leak free? Nope! Next one is the very common, leaks when hot rear of front wheel arch driver's side: expansion tank. New tank and its bottom hose ordered. I've already dismantled most of the bits: don't believe the forums across the pond that boast this is quick and easy as it is not. Spray and go slowly with the brace bar removal. Bolts are easily snapped. Wiggle the wipers to remove when unbolted...I know sounds strange but with a bit of wd they will come off. i need to remove the wheel and under wing trim next to gain access to the bottom expansion tank hose. At least the weather will be warm! If anyone is interested I can post some pics when I get back to it.
  6. I had the dreaded slow drain that drove me nuts. car does low mileage and short journeys, it was on new battery replaced under warranty - no faults found. Great. in a conversation with an auto electrician he asked the model of my battery: Lion, from a well known disty. Ah that's the problem, he said, bane of my life. The disty, fair play, agreed with no quibbles to exchange under warranty and I opted for a premium brand and stumped up the extra £'s. I can report that irrespective of lack of use, I have no more issues. I know this won't solve all issues...just another consideration.
