  1. My cheap and cheerful fix was simply to rub down the worst of the bubbles, then stick this https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F172942499073 over the top. 22mm width, with two lines of adhesive tape on the back. It bent naturally to the right profile, easy to cut to shape with scissors, and now looks like I paid a fortune for a set of chrome waist seals. Well pleased.
  2. Thank you for the advice Laszlo, I'll try out your suggestions this weekend and report back!
  3. Hi all I've noticed that especially in 5th gear, when going downhill in gear with my foot off the throttle, when the road levels out and I start applying a bit of throttle again, I get a brief clunk as though there's some slack in the drivetrain. I've searched the forums but as different people might describe it differently, I've been unable to find any previous posts on the subject. It's a 2005 X-Type 2.2d with 108k and manual transmission by the way. If anyone can cast any light on this, I'd be glad to hear what it might be, whether it indicates the beginning of a serious problem, and what might cure it! Thanks in advance. Andy
  4. My X-Type has Barley colour interior, but it's called SEL on the plate on the passenger door jamb. I ordered some touch up paint from Scratch Doctor quoting Barley/SEL and it was a perfect match...
  5. Thanks chaps for the welcome. I had a look at the sills before purchasing, and they look pretty corroded, but as the car had just passed an MOT with no advisories I figured it couldn't be as bad as it looked. Time will tell if my supposition turns out to be rubbish!
  6. Hello all I acquired a very nice X-Type saloon 2.2d SE on a 55 plate recently, my first Jaguar. I've only done 1500 miles so far and love the car, at least in part because I purchased from a dealer with very good after-sales service, who put right the couple of issues I had to begin with. I've had many cars in my time, but never before has one turned as many heads, or started as many conversations, as this one has! Looking forward to learning and contributing as much as I can on this forum!
