  1. I’m glad you got sorted in the end, your experience has put me off having ago at changing mine myself. Did the £100 charge include the bulb or was this just a labour charge for changing a single bulb?
  2. Hi peter, problem for me is they are xenon so they are going to cost £100 plus just for the bulbs, so I'm just wondering if it's worth the cost and hassle of doing it. my previous car had halogen bulbs and I found the Philips white vision bulbs to be a vast improvement, I really was impressed with them.
  3. Rich can you let me know how you get on, I'm thinking of changing my bulbs as mine go slightly yellow after a few mins of being on, just not sure if it's too much hassle.
  4. Hi, is your tapping noise coming from behind the steering wheel area? It usually isn't there to begin with only starts after 5 mins or so of driving, it isn't overly loud, radio on volume 8 is enough to disguise it but still slightly irritating when I can hear it.
  5. Update been to stratstone jaguar in Nottingham today and they confirmed to me I had a warped brake disc, they replaced front discs and pads and rear discs free of charge without discussion, they didn't replace rear pads as they said they are not very old and had still 80% wear left so they took them out cleaned them up and refitted them, this has cured the problem. So far couldn't be happier with the service from them at Nottingham, I would recommend them to anybody. Nico dealt with me when I bought the car and he was really helpful with no pushy sales rubbish, and now it seems the after sale service is also very good. Big thumbs up from me 👍🏻

  7. yes I agree, going in like a bull at a gate will get me nowhere. The car was the sales managers company car but it had done only 200 miles in 4 months before I bought it (think they must have used it as a run around before putting in on the forecourt). I can totally see how it could have been missed, the important thing is how they handle it and the position they take in rectifying it.
  8. Hi rooster thanks for the reply, I didn’t report it to them before as it was only just noticeable and I put it down to my driving and getting used to the brakes as they are much sharper than any other car I’ve owned. I think this may be down to the discretion and goodwill of the dealer but I just don’t expect to be paying for new brakes within a few months of buying an approved car from them.
  9. Hi all, after some advice on what I should expect from the dealer I bought my xf from. i suspect I have a warped brake disc as I can feel a stop start motion when I'm braking like the brakes are biting then releasing, this is more noticeable at slow speed when creeping in traffic or when braking harshly. I've felt this since I've had the car on 25th October but to a lesser extent and has gradually got worse. My question is as I've only had the a few months should I expect the dealer to foot the bill and rectify this as it was sold to me as an approved used car? I doubt this would be covered under the 2 year warranty but having the car for such a short amount of time I really don't think I should be having to pay out for this problem. the car is a 2015 xf with 31000 miles on the clock, I've covered about 2500 miles since I had it in October. its booked to go in on Friday so any opinions before then would be really appreciated. cheers ash.
  10. Hi Ian, this guide is brilliant as I’m thinking of replacing my bulbs also, I just don’t think the originals are giving that crisp white light I’m after, they seem to fire up very white but after afew mins they settle to a slightly yellowish colour, did yours do this? also what bulbs did you replace them with? And are you now satisfied with the light colour? cheers Ash
  11. Hi Steve, thought I would give you an update on the tapping noise. Just got back from Lancaster jaguar in Tamworth, chap took it out and had a listen and said there is nothing unusual about it, he did say what it was but for the life of can't remember what he said, its something that bolted to the bulk head on drivers side (which is where the noise is coming from) that has a plastic cover over it, something to do with a valve I think he said? anyway he's reassured me the engine is sweet and nothing to worry about 👌🏼
  12. Hi cubist and thanks for the reply, I got the car from stratstone in Nottingham so comes with the 2 year jaguar warranty. I’m no mechanic but i do change things like pads & discs so don’t mind getting my hands dirty, but by the sounds of it it may be worth going to my local dealer and letting them have a listen to it. Cheers ash
  13. I’ve now owned my xf 2.2 200bhp r-sport for two weeks now and I absolutely love it apart from a niggling tapping noise coming from the engine bay. It happens when accelerating and sounds like tappets on a knackered old fiesta I used to own, it isn’t overly load, passengers may not even notice it, but load enough to be annoying on an otherwise very quite car. Is this a usual characteristic of this engine or could it be a problem? any help would be great Ash.
  14. Hi Pete, Jonny, and Trevor, everything works brilliantly in my car, it was the sales managers car at stratstone in Nottingham and really is in super condition and drives beautifully, my niggles are more to do where things could be slightly better, no exterior puddle lights electronic park brake doesn't auto apply when selecting park no voice control for phone or satnav engine noise can be slightly gruff at low revs overall though the pros far out way the cons, jag have always known (my parents and grandparents have always had them) how to make beautiful looking cars with luxurious interiors. cheers ash
  15. Hi all, just a quick question I’m sure a fellow xf owner can help me with. I picked up my first jag last week, a 2015 xf r-sport saloon, and I’ve noticed it has no puddle lights either under wing mirrors or under the door cards. Is this correct or am I missing something? I would have thought a car like this would have some sort of exterior courtesy lighting? cheers Ash
  16. Hi all, took ownership of my first jag last week and thought it would be a good idea to join the club for advice and general chat from people who know a lot more than me about my car. my car is a 2015 xf r-sport 2.2 200bhp saloon, and so far love it (apart from some minor niggles but we can talk about those later). I'm from the midlands area and look forward to future discussions with you all. many thanks Ash.
