i had same thing on a vectra you have to get the complete mirror on that just removed the glass and used donor to replce im breaking an s type 2006 2.5 if you want anything ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253933417660

did the hand cut tin have a hole in the centre or just the 2 mounting holes ?

hi thanks steve i did remove the connections and replace them and it worked until the next time i reversed so will try what you said and report back cheers paul ,

what is the best diagnostic tool for the x type with in reasonable price , to read egr values , correct rear parking sensor faults etc

my 2005 sport d, has an issue with the rpdc , when put in reverse there is a long beep (not the error beep) then if you leave it a while the rapid beep starts then goes back to a long beep , have checked and changed the sensor no clicking ( now all clicking ) so would it be the unit or still a rogue sensor . cheers in adfvance
