  1. You are getting too technical.

Try what BM Chidders suggested and work from there. You can also test it with a resistance meter.

If you are going to remove the gauge then either have a new one or a second hand one with you to change it over.

Presumably the heater is working so that would rule out the thermostat?

    Hi Steve,

I heard of Mackies some years ago.  I have never used them but they had a very good reputation by those that had,

    They are based in Glasgow.

    Regards,

    Peter.

    Thankyou Peter.

    Welcome to the club, Danny.

I have had an S Type 2.7 d for the last 7 years, and like you, are thoroughly enjoying Sir William Lyons' "Grace, Pace and Space".

I have only had one minor issue with the XF gearbox and that was when I was using the manual system to slow the engine down on downhill roads. I have had auto gearboxes for 18 years and this is the only issue I have had.

I am not an expert in the mechanics of a car, but I do know of a company that is expert on gearboxes.  Unfortunately it is in Scotland.  I would google around and see if there is someone like that in the South of England.

    Good Luck,

    Peter.

    Where in Scotland Peter please.

    Hello,

Can an informed owner (s) please advise as to what qualifies a 2013 XF 250 AWD 3.0 litre as a "Premium" Luxury' vehicule as opposed to the standard , entry level ""Luxury" version.

My car --advertised as "Premium Luxury--has no B&W/Meridian Sound system, no memory function for seats & mirriors, no headlight levelling function, no heated or parking dip wing mirrors etc.

What qualifies this car to be advertised and sold as "Premium Luxury ?"

    Thank you for your advice.

You can do a VIN search on google etc.

Or you can ask BM,  JOE-DOT-COM

If you PM him your VIN he may be able to help or advise.

    Regards.

  5. A 20 year old car with very few miles. Could very well be a stretched cable as JustBadly suggests. While checking the cable give it a good spray with some spray grease (preferably) or WD40. Lack of use can cause the mechanisms to seize up.

Hi Steve.  The Pro Clip and Tomtom XXL Cradle arrived the other day and, thanks to you, I'm absolutely delighted with them.  Perfect fit (down to Swedish design and manufacture no doubt) and superb positioning have solved my problem completely.  Fitted in a matter of minutes too.  Thanks again...great find.   Graham

It is about the best design I have seen. No drilling or sticky patches to fit it either. Glad you like it and glad I could help you.

    Cheers,

    Steve...
