  1. It's a shame there's no visible radar module. So many of the listings either don't show a decent picture of the steering wheel or don't show any interior pictures, so an external module is a nice easy tell-tale. Thanks for the info on what to look for. I have a couple of cars in my yard I need to sell, then I'll be looking for an XF! (Or maybe an LS460 if I'm feeling masochistic. 😁)
  2. Thanks for the reply, PaulT. Is there a "tell-tale" for the ACC? Like on the Lexus LS430, you can tell the cars that have adaptive cruise as the front Lexus badge is mounted on a rectangular clear plastic panel.
  3. Hi all, I've been considering getting an XF; specifically the 3.0 diesel. I'm looking for a car that meets the following spec - does it exist? - Not black, gold, silver or white - Not a black leather interior (prefer beige or white leather) - Bluetooth connectivity for audio and phone calls - Premium stereo option (like Lexus have the Mark Levenson option) - Front and rear parking sensors - Rear camera - Adaptive cruise control (or laser/radar, whatever it's called!) - HID headlights I am hoping I can get all of the above in an XF - the 3.0 is such a good car on paper in terms of performance and MPG, so if I can find the right spec then I think it would by my ideal next car! Thanks! 🙂
  4. I'm toying with the idea of buying an X300 XJR, 4.0 supercharged. I love the design of this generation of XJR, but I have concerns. Mostly about the nikisil problem; I've read that any cars surviving now will have either had an engine swap (green tag on the engine) or will be nikisil engines that weren't affected badly enough to be swapped out, and should be OK now as nikisil hardens with age. I understand a blow-by test (presumably done by Jaguar or a specialist) can identify problems here, so definitely worth doing. I'm concerned that I'm going to end up buying an expensive repair bill. I've also read that this generation can sometimes require major suspension component replacement (bushes, shocks, etc) as due to its character it will have been driven hard and therefore these parts will have worn faster. Is this at all likely? Last thing is to apparently look at the frame by the front shock towers to check for rust. Is there anything else I need to know about, or any advice you guys could share? Thanks. 🙂
  5. Hello! Many years ago I had access to a 1982 XJ6 with the 4.2, which I drove on and off for a few years. A beautiful car, and I was sad to see it go. (Sadly it was parted out and scrapped, not by me!) I've recently been considering getting back into Jag ownership. I've been considering a LWB XJ8 probably with the 3.2, but I keep coming to the XJR with the supercharged 4.0. I do have some concerns about overall reliability, especially the engine. I've read up on the nikisil problems that affected the late 90ies XJRs, and as this is the era I'm looking at, I'm a little worried I'm going to end up buying an expensive repair bill. I'll go start a new thread in the relevant sub-forum in a sec. So this is here just to say hello. Hello! Dave
