  1. I don't know if this is relevant to younger XKs but on my 2008 4.2 XKR, you need to apply the parking brake to completely shut down the electronics. Otherwise, as I was told, more 12v systems stay active and the battery drains quicker. It's like telling it to go to sleep. A CTEK charger should come as standard equipment with these cars. I always hook one up if I can when the car is left for 3 days +
  2. I went through 2 sets of OEM discs/pads on my 2008 XKR 4.2 tracking it around Goodwood Circuit over the last couple of years. A local specialist recommended switching to EBC Yellowstuff pads and grooved discs. The pads are for heavy road/light track use, and the discs are supposed to cool down quicker. They still produce dust - more at the start while they bed in, but they have survived one very intense track day so far. See https://ebcbrakes.com for full explanation of their colour coding and products.
  3. I have a 2001-02 X-Type brochure and price list from my old Jag X-Type if anyone wants it. It is in good condition with all the model choices and glossy 'buy me' photos. The car has gone but I still have the brochure. Having kept it all these years, it's a shame to throw it away so I'll post it for free to the Jaguar owner who comes up with the best reply: "Why would you like it?"
