  1. Thank you so much Frazer. As you suggested the drive belt had slipped out as a pulley had moved due to 2 loose bolts and one that had snapped. These were replaced and the car is sorted of those issues now. It cost £81 which didn't upset me. However the drive belt to the left is making a bit of noise. Is there anything to do to quieten this a touch. Perhaps more significantly though on starting up the engine today, twice, the car seemed to croke as if struggling for fuel (I get paranoid the garage did something during the fix) then when it's running it's smooth and powerful and quiet again. Thanks again, Steve.
  2. Hi, Mine is a 2006 2 litre X-type diesel. It's done 65,000. She was purring like a kitten when I picked her up 3 weeks ago but last week I had noticed a loader intermittent clicking sound when turned on. I took it to a garage they said it sounded fine. Then yesterday I came off the motorway after 10 miles and nearing home noticed the power steering locking up. I just about got the car back and the oil temperature reading was touching the red and a message saying about engine overheating. The fan was going at maximum for ages even when the car was off. I restarted the car a while later and it sounded like a tin can. Later still I turned the key and the engine was quite again but the steering column still resisting. Any advice would be highly valued. Thank you, Steve.
