  1. Heres my checklist..... Damp carpets, this is caused by blocked duckbill drain behind the dash (very expensive to fix). Check under the mats for damp patches under the dash. Make sure it has good service history and normal MOT history. Check the rear windows are secure as the brackets can break. Make sure theres no supercharger or belt noise at startup from cold. Check for warnings on the info screen relating to any problems.
  2. The other way I've been thinking of it is that the Range Rover runs the same engine. I would think the they share the same block/crank/bearings. I've found a company that cover the 5.0 litre engine. https://www.turnerengineering.co.uk/land-rover-50-v8-engine-parts-c102x3706479 King bearings are good so they are not some no name brand (I work for a classic car motor factors specializing in vintage engine parts) Seems like you can get oversize too , 10 and 20 thou so thats good news. You could have the crank ground. Dunc
  3. Hi Steve, I've just had a quick google and found, https://www.britishparts.co.uk/jaguar-parts-c11/jaguar-x150-xk-xkr-c108/engine-c149 Good for gaskets but not much else. Mains and big ends seem hard to get, I wonder if you'll need a crank grind too if its scored the crank. Either that or if you can find a engine in the states thats had a timing failure of some sort and the bottom end is ok and take the crank out of it. Dunc
  4. Hello, I'm hoping for a bit of advise from some owners as I've looked at the normal buying guides, Pistonheads etc. This car is near-ish to me and I'm going to view it at the weekend all things being well, https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201907260491624?radius=1500&make=JAGUAR&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=distance&model=XKR&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&postcode=sy36ds&page=1 What should I be looking out for? Is high mileage a problem on these? All the reviews I have read seem to suggest the car is very reliable but I haven't really heard from any high mileage owners. Anyone use one as a daily driver? A bit of my car background. I've had 2 V8 camaros. I sold the last one, last year (pic attached). It was a six speed manual LS1 (5.7 alloy block) good for 350bhp at the crank. We moved house and now I'm in a position to buy another car but the american/classic car market has ballooned and I think most of the cars on sale are ridiculously priced. I missed out on a ltd edition 96 corvette early this year and have been kicking myself ever since! So I got to thinking about the X150 XKR as I've always admired the shape but thought they where out of my price range but it turns out there not! Currently I'm driving a old 96' Lexus LS400 (had to have something with a V8!) which I have to say is great for comfort but not exactly a occasion like my previous cars have been. Dunc
