  2. Just to update (I’d forgotten about it) Nothing to do with the belt. It was a wet spark plug hole, just coincidence it appeared after I did the belt. It wa s the common fault of rain water leaking in to the hole.

  4. SOLVED! It transpired that the fuel smell was due to one of the new ignition coils boot, not being located over the spark plug hole correctly. luckily I have a good sense of smell and managed to locate the smell to the spark plug area. I found no other leaks anywhere. I had recently changed the plugs and coils. On further inspection after following my nose, I could see that one of the boots wasn’t entirely over the spark plug hole, this is where the smell came from. I checked tightness of the spark plug and then repositioned the boot correctly. The smell hasn’t returned since.
  5. Hello 3.0cc petrol 2004 plate Petrol smell in cabin after braking. It’s fine in a straight line just a whiff of petrol after braking, assuming the slosh forward. Any know culprits for this problem? Thanks
  6. The code reader was £20 and showed a misfire in cylinder bank 1. It transpired that the spark plug was full of water. Changed spark plug and all sorted. It was just a coincidence the fault occurred after the work I did on the belt which was all good (easy job by the way).

  9. S type with 50000 miles 3.0 petrol just replaced the auxiliary belt which was easy. Put everything back together and now it’s misfiring at idle and acceleration and now the engine light has come on. Ran fine before this, I checked everything and all is back as it should be. All that was removed initially was the air box pipe.

  11. I removed my headliner and replaced the fabric for £17. The spray I used wasn’t strong enough so I’ll have to do it again. When I Took the old one off, it was the foam that had perished so you’re fighting a losing battle. It is possible to take yours out and re cover it like I did. Just make sure you get a decent adhesive spray and save doing it twice like me.

  13. 3.0 petrol S type My power steering has developed a pulsating or vibrating when stationary or very slow moving, an ideas? I can’t find a Google solution anywhere. Ps I have flushed the power steering and renewed the fluid with no change to the symptoms.
  14. Have a whine on certain points of holding the accelerator. I think mine may b the prop shaft centre bearing, could be the same as yours maybe?

  16. Hello New member in Kent. I have a 2004 plate S type 3.0 petrol with 50’000 miles give or take. The car appears to have been stood for some time prior to my ownership. Jobs done, Headliner replaced but I’ll have to do this again, the “No nonsense” glue was.....Nonsense! Gearbox flushed and serviced. Jobs to do..... prop shaft bearing and sort out a weird pulsating in the power steering. A flush didn’t cure this and I can’t find a fix despite trawling the internet.
