  1. Help please. My 2004 S-type 2.5 V6 died a couple of weeks ago. The call-out mechanic confirmed that the fuel pump had failed. However I am getting conflicting information. One garage says that the fuel pump and fuel level sender are in one unit but another says that they are two separate units. I think that the latter is correct as there are two units in the fuel tank. The one on the offside is a pump with the part no. 2R83-AF and the other on the nearside has part no.2R83-AG. As the fuel gauge failed a few months ago I suspect that both units have failed. Sounds expensive ! If they are separate units can anyone tell me where I can get replacements please?. John
  2. Sorry for the delay in responding and thank you for the suggestion. I take it that by 'the binnacle' you mean the whole instrument cluster. I will now try and find one on e-bay and will get back to you. John
  3. Hi there from the Island of Guernsey. I have a lovely 2005 S-type (2.5l V6) which has just come up to 38000 miles (Guernsey is not very big). In the last few weeks the fuel gauge has developed a mind of its own. Until recently it worked OK when leaving home. Then slowly the needle would drop slightly before suddenly dropping to empty. Five minutes later the gauge would then start working and occasionally read higher than previously. Later the same thing would happen again. Leaving work, the gauge read correctly and the whole scenario was repeated. When the gauge reads empty, the message comes up 'fuel data error'. Yesterday the gauge died altogether and now I am subjected to a 5 second alarm signal every 10 minutes which maybe related to the problem. My local auto electrician tells me that the fuel sender unit is an integral part of the fuel pump and the whole unit has to be replaced which involves taking the tank out etc. The quote was in excess of £600. Any help or advice would be welcome please.
