  1. Good afternoon, Is there a way to private message members about items for sale rather than replying openly to the thread? Thanks.
  2. Good morning, I have trawled the Mongoose related threads looking for a link to a reliable place to buy Mongoose cable/adaptor and software and although there is lots of chat about it no one seems to have posted a link to a site. So could I ask again please. I'm looking for the hardware and software package, IDS I believe as my car is 2002. I have of course seen them on ebay but they all seem to be from the "Xing Chong trading Company" or somewhere similar so I'm a little wary. Of course I also don't want to pay £500 for the Drewtech . Is there something in between which does the job? Thanks.
  3. Good evening, I need a bit of technical expertise please. My son and I are building a project car and we are hoping to use a Jaguar 3.0 V6 as the power plant. It has to be a transverse layout so the X-Type is the obvious donor. Our problem is that the manual boxes are 4 wheel drive. Can I assume that a Ford 2wd box will be direct replacement? Or, if I went for an auto model, which there seem to be more of, would I have ECU problems? Lastly, is the gearbox from a 2wd 2.1 V6 compatible with the 3.0. And one more idea is to use an S Type engine. Longitudinal I know but once it's out of the car and gearbox removed, am I looking at exactly the same motor as an X -Type 3.0? All advice greatly appreciated. Best regards,
  4. Good evening, Firstly I have to confess...I am an interloper who doesn't actually own a Jaguar. However, I am very close to buying one, albeit to rob it of it's drivetrain, and I would appreciate some advice. My son and I are building a kit car...and the AJ30 is our engine of choice. We have been all around the houses with other engine choices but always come back to the Jaguar. Our problem is that we need a transverse 2 wheel drive manual installation, and I don't think that combination exists in the Jaguar line up. So, in a nutshell, can anyone tell me whether the ford or Mazda boxes are a straight fit? Or are there other transverse options out there? Alternatively, what would be the effect of disconnecting the drive to the rear wheels on a 4wd x Type. Does the ECU talk to the gearbox and start shuffling the torque around? And likewise would the ECU get confused if the auto box on an S-type was replaced with let's say for argument sake a manual ford box from an ST220. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thank you.
