  1. Thank you for your comments. I am pleased to hear you like your car. I am sorely disappointed that since I raised this matter a month ago, both here and with JLR, there has been no authoritative or clear response to a very simple question which is currently, if my experience is anything to go by, allowing private and professional vendors to misrepresent the category of Jaguar vehicle they are selling to a private consumer with apparent impunity. I bought the car--and it is immaterial in which legal jurisdiction I bought it-- on the basis that, as an advertised "Premium Luxury" version, it contained basic optional extras that the JLR certified "Luxury" version it actually is, does not have. (It is only indirectly relevant that the car was also described as having a "memory" function and "Ventilated" seats which I subsequently discovered it did not .Those are additional, specific sources of misrepresentation). Mine is a simple question. What are all the differences between the standard XF 3.0 litre S/C AWD 2013 "Premium Luxury " vehicle and a standard XF 3.0 litre S/S AWD 2013 "Luxury" vehicle ? Are they limited to +/- extras and, if so, which ones; are there also differences in the build of the car, its interior trim and fittings, its safety equipment, its engine, chassis or suspension etc ? I am just astonished there seems to be no answer coming through from the sources I deemed as authoritative and which prevents me from getting the redress to which I am entitled and assisting others in not falling into the same trap. Thank you for whatever fact based advice can be provided.
  2. Thank you for your reply but, in my non-specialist mind, it doesn't quite go to the core of the issue-- one which JLR itself apparently created at the time by branding cars as "Luxury"; "Premium Luxury" and "Portfolio" and are now, judging from vagueness of my local dealer, inconclusive at answering. When you purchase a vehicle advertised as a "Premium Luxury" model, you expect it to be equipped as standard with a certain number of options or extras that would not be on the entry level "Luxury " version. I purchased my vehicle on its advertised basis of a "Premium Luxury". JLR then ran a VIN check and told me it was a "Luxury" vehicle with a certain number of optional extras ( eg: sliding roof) but, going through the handbook, I notice it is missing, for example, tyre pressure warning function, Up-graded sound system ( B&W/Meridian), parking and heated dip wing mirrors, headlight levelling adjustment, memory function for seats and mirrors. Those are all features I expected to find, and took for granted, on the "Luxury Premium" version as standard. Judging by the equipment schedule I can see on advertised cars--there may well be others I am missing but simply do not know since no one seems capable of telling me what I was entitled to have on buying a car advertised as a "Premium Luxury" model as opposed to what I do/don't have have on this JLR certified more basic "Luxury" version. Hope this is clear. Anyone care to shed some led and answer my query ? I find the whole JLR universe of extras as off putting. Thank you for your advice..
  3. Dear John, Thank you for your advice. That sounds very sensible in that I am somewhat sceptical that a mechanical failure is at the origin of both the locking system on each door as well as both wing mirrors on each side. The former perhaps, since I am told it is a not infrequent occurrence on JLR and the locking mechanism/actuator has to be repalced. If I could take your advice a little further: i) Before buying parts, is it possible to try and re-set ( doors and wing mirrors) without having to take the car to a JLR dealer or can a garage with a diagnostic system do the necessary ? (I would like to help my local one which has been in business for a couple of years with a talented mechanic who has gone solo but used to work on "quality" cars and who is obviously finding business a bit "thin" these days. The local JLR dealer is flashy to the point of being unfrequentable). ii) What could possibly cause a healthy battery to discharge to the point of "corrupting" the software ? As far as I am aware, I close off everything, apart from the "Delay" function on the left hand stalk and which, as I understand it, allows the courtesy lights to be illuminated for an additional 30 seconds. I will most certainly investigate the C-TEK option and see if I can have it delivered outside the UK. Thank you again. Kind regards, Nicholas,
  4. Hello, Can an informed owner (s) please advise as to what qualifies a 2013 XF 250 AWD 3.0 litre as a "Premium" Luxury' vehicule as opposed to the standard , entry level ""Luxury" version. My car --advertised as "Premium Luxury--has no B&W/Meridian Sound system, no memory function for seats & mirriors, no headlight levelling function, no heated or parking dip wing mirrors etc. What qualifies this car to be advertised and sold as "Premium Luxury ?" Thank you for your advice.
  5. Thank you for your advice. The car battery was tested 2 days ago during a technical inspection and was fine. Does anyone else have experience of both rear doors remaining locked ( inside and out--manually and electronically) or, remaining open when the front doors are locked ? The wing mirrors remain in the folded position. Any advice/ remedies or should I just get rid of this car and consider it unfit for purpose ? Thank you.
  6. Hello. I am new to this site and to Jaguar ownership. I just bought a 2013 LHD Jaguar XF-250 AWD 3.0 Litre. Within days, the rear doors either failed to lock ( even when using the remote double lock feature) or, remained open with the front doors locked. As of yesterday, both wing mirrors remain in the folded position. The car is obviously undriveable and I am just waiting for the next failure. Anybody had similar experiences and remedies ? Thank you.
