  1. I was getting a clunking, bumping sound from the rear suspension on this 2000 S type. My local garage identified the problem as coming from the two stabilizer bar rubber bushings. I had them replaced by the garage and the noise is considerably less but it is not gone completely. Unfortunately I did not ask to see the old bushings but the garage owner assured me that he could easily shake the sway bar before the changeover. At speeds lower than 10 km/hour I can hear it again. I can also get a fairly significant popping/cracking noise by lifting on the fender just above the wheel. I tried taking off the wheel but when I jack up the car I cannot get the noise at all.. I have sprayed the joints with WD 40 and will take it for a drive after I finish this note. There is a large rubber bushing just aft of the wheel that looks a little cracked but otherwise everything seems fairly normal to my untrained eye. Any thoughts or experiences to relate?
