crisis averted. I just opened the windows up and down till they clicked and this was the resetting of the relays and now it all work s fine.

I have an xk8 convertible and when I open the drivers door the window drops a little to clear the roof channel, then when I close the door, it goes back up into the channel. Recently it has a mind of its on. When I lift the outside door handle it chuggs down in increments and when I close the door it doesent go back up. Can anyone advise me as to what mechanism controls this so I can get it fixed because if i open the door and put the window up fully then close the door, the window fits outside the channel.

Ive watched a u tube video by a well respected mechanic and he advises that we should disconnect the battery and then reconnect and drive for 15 mins the way the new owner drives, because the old owner/driver had idiosyncrasies that follow the car, presumably via some kind of memory thing. My latest acquisition, a 2002 xk8 was owned from new by a lady and she never thrashed it and boasts that she never used the kick down facility. This could maybe explain why my car has a pronounced delay between the pick up response. Is there any truth in this. By the way the car has done less than 50,000 miles and is perfect in every way, mechanically and ecstatically.

Thanks for that, very helpful. Apparently the v5 shows no weights so it cant have a towbar fitted. I gave up, lol.

Can anyone advise me if there is such a person. I am not looking for a main dealer, I'm looking for one of these hidden away gurus that have masses of intel on older jags, circa 2002. Id like a full check up and an in depth report on my new acquired vehicles state of health.

Is it possible to get a towbar fitted without altering the estetic lines of the rear end. I thought maybe a removeable but I dont knor if its possible. Has anyone ever done it.

I have just joined so be gentle. Ive bought a 2002 XK8 and its a convertible in prestine condition. The 2 requests for info are as such..... 1. The stereo is pants and I need a sat nav so what are my options. Id be ooking to spend a bit and replace the speakers and maybe even a sub base to give me a decent sound so im not adverse to spending a bit more than normal if needs must. 2. Im not that impressed with the exhausts and when I kick down I dont get the throaty sound I had in my old Porche, so has anyone any ideas for a new exhaust or even maybe an additive

Ive got a beautiful conditioned 2002 xk convertible and as most of you already know, the radio/cd changer in car sound system is pants. My fantasy would be to replace the existing one with a pop out screen sat/nav and upgrade the speakers to give me a decent sound and satnav combo. Do any of you know of such a unit that might do the job. Thanks in advance.
