  1. OK, which trim? under either footwell? or the gearshift surround & ski slope? I have had the centre surround ou in the past to change a cracked wood finish, is it to the side of the the gearshift? thanks for the quick reply.
  2. Hi, my 1995 XJ6 Auto will only start in nuetral, NOT PARK! Is there a isolating switch within the gearbox that can be looked at or changed? This has only happened in the last week after many months of trouble-free starting. All help welcome & happy New Year to all members..Dave 8.
  3. Hi, if you have the switch/button/toggle on the left side of the steering column, this is the electric adjust model. When in neutral or park if you can hear the motor working, but no movement, then it's a good bet that it has broken inside the column. I have been told it is better to source from a breakers for this, than go to a main dealer. Mine won't work either, but I cannot hear anything on mine, so I presume my findings may differ to yours. I hope this helps. Dave 8.
  4. Car: 1996 XJ6, 3.2, x300. Yep! the same one that has still got the alarm problem still ongoing. Now on my way back home from Cardiff, arrived at junction and indicated right, no light on dash, so at first opportunity pulled up to check. I can hear the relay clicking as normal, but, no indiators or dash warning arrow showing. left turn tests OK, back to right turn, nothing but the relay clicking. Tested the hazard function and found the problem is there as well! all working on the left, but nothing on the right. Back home now at total loss, still no indicators on right side even though it did try once, but stopped again after two flashes. any help gratefully received, especially on what improvised tool to make to get the front indicator units out. cheers. 5. I believe the keys are original by wear and type, so I'm happy with them. I have found three cut wires in the boot/trunk that may be from a CD changer that appears to be missing. Somebody has taken the original radio out and fitted an aftermarket one by SEVIC model SBL0103MP4 which by the way is faulty, so have left the removable face off. The cut wires are 5 inches proud of the main cable harness beside the battery. No idea where from though at present. I need a complete wiring diagram to be able to diagnose problem. Also the mirrors & cigar lighters don't work but the fuses in the heel kick area are intact. Beginning to think I bought something from Friday 13th!! I might need a professional specialist to look at it because I can't find a haynes or bentley book to suit....AAHHHhhh.
  6. Hi, hello, very new to the site (three days), I have just bought a 1996 3.2 XJ6 Sovereign.Supplied with two genuine jag keys with the head insert on, BUT no remotes! I know that when I unlock the car I must put the key into the ignition & turn to position two, to cancel the alarm, no problem. Here's the problem, when locking the drivers door the alarm fails to beep once to arm, it then goes into secondary beeping after 20 seconds, followed by full alarm. It does this four or five times on the bounce, BUT the next attempt to lock is met by a single beep and all's well! what is happening? is there any value in scrapping the existing alarm system and replacing with a Toad Sterling Cat One alarm with two remotes supplied at an all in cost of £199? rather than buying remotes at £120 plus from jaguar? OR, have I failed to check, or turn something off inside the car that I don't know about yet. After all this is my very first cat. Any help would be gratefully received. Dave 8.
