  1. Welcome aboard David ! I have a 2004 Diesel S Type and I love it. Sorry I can't help you with the techie stuff but I'm sure there are lots of people out there who can. Happy motoring !
  2. Hi David, welcome aboard. I have had my S Type for 3 years and I love it as much now as I did when I bought it. It's an absolute dream to drive - a !Removed! cat around town and a beast on the open road ! Happy motoring, Chris.
  3. Hello 'Big John' welcome aboard. I hope you have many happy miles of motoring in your S Type. They really are a joy to drive. Cheers, Chris.
  4. Lovely car but I too am biased, I also have a blue S type. And I love it ! Welcome aboard Trevor, happy motoring to you too.
  5. Hi Alan, all I can suggest is that it might be worth considering taking it to the Jaguar specialists that I take my S Type to which is R&R Jaguar Specialists of Fordbridge in Birmingham. I have a 2.7 Diesel 2004 plate and have used them several times. I've always found them to be very knowledgeable and helpful. They always use genuine Jaguar parts which might make them seem more expensive than other garages but at least you know that they are of the best quality. Not sure whether links are allowed on this forum but I'll copy and paste it in for you in case you're interested. https://www.jaguarspecialistsbirmingham.co.uk/ Also if you do come over I would be happy to go with you to hear what they say. My windscreen is showing a reluctance to clear as well atm so I'm wondering if I might be getting something similar soon. Good luck, Chris.
  6. Hi Joe, thank you for your reply. Yes you assumed correctly I do have a diesel. I'm pretty sure the garage I use uses only genuine Jaguar parts. So £300 plus £50 for labour would seem about right. That's put my mind at rest now. A great reply with good technical detail, much appreciated Joe. Thanks again, Chris.
  7. Hi Fellow S Type owners, I recently had my cambelt changed at 73,000 miles. The recommended mileage is 75,000 but because of the age of the car (2004) the garage I go to suggested I might want consider having the belt changed. I thought this was good advice. They also said that while I was having the belt changed I might consider having the waterpump changed at the same time. This saves money in the long run. All good so far. However a week or so after I had the car back I had a low engine coolant warning light come on. Obviously my first thought was that it was something to do with the waterpump being changed. However it wasn't and I had to have a new 3 Way outlet fitted. This cost me £350. A sum that came as bit of a shock if I'm honest. My question is have any other forum members had the same or similar experience ? I hasten to add I trust the garage and the car has been fine since it was replaced. Also with the age of the car it's inevitable that things are now going to need fixing / replacing. I'm just interested really to hear of other members' experiences.
  8. Hi Weddingcar, depending which side of Birmingham you're on I would suggest Martin Robey Jaguar specialists based in Nuneaton. They seem to specialise in E Type parts but looking at their website it does look as if they cover other Jaguar models as well. Also I use a really good garage called R&R Jaguar Specialists based in Saxon Way Fordbridge, Birmingham. they may be able to help if you're stuck for parts. Hope this helps.
  9. Hi Keith, I have an S Type 2.7 litre diesel and I also get the DSC Not Available message now and again. I also get various other warning messages. What I have gleaned is that most of them are caused by the battery not being fully charged. It doesn't necessarily mean that your battery is on the way out it might just need a good charge. I've bought myself a 'C-Tek Time to Go charger which I've found to be very useful. I still get the odd warning light but usually switching off the engine and restarting clears them. Hope this helps.
  10. Thank you guys, you've made me feel very welcome. I agree the blue really does suit the car - but then I am biased I suppose ! Have a great Christmas all and here's to a safe and prosperous new year !
  11. Thank you Julie, I certainly am enjoying my Jag. Here are a couple of pictures....
  12. Just joined the Jaguar Owners Club and I'm thrilled to be here. Had my S Type since July 2020 so a bit late coming to the party. Acquired mine by an amazing stroke of luck as I wasn't really looking to change my car. Saw it for sale on the forecourt of the garage that I took my car to for its MOT and fell in love with it. Can't believe how good this car is. It is an absolute joy to drive and takes the stress out of day to day motoring. Motorways are a breeze and the open road blissful. As you can probably guess I absolutely love my S Type ! Performance is superb and still manages 30 - 40 MPG. I've driven some nice cars over the years but this is another level. Really happy with it.
