  1. Hi again Scull56. Just thought a little more about your inverter loop. When you are running the engine you wil merely be using a sophisticated heater in the boot and discharging the battery when not so. Personally I would not recommend it, sorry!
  2. Good evening Scull 56. Your system fascinates me. I'm an OLD electrical / electronics engineer and things have moved on from my days. I see it as a battery supplying an inverter suplying a charger charging the supplying battery. I get lost when it comes to the efficiency of the loop. Please put me right, my old fashioned stuff leaves me lost. The battery suplies 12v @ x amps to the inverter (12x watts) and gets warm. Efficiency <100%. The inverter supplies 240v @ y amps times any phase angle existing (240y cos~ watts) to the cteck. The cteck then supplies the charge to the battery. It too has an efficiency < 100%. Except when the alternator is adding to the system, at the moment I am lost to see how the system will work. Recards Roger.
  3. Good evening James 646. Thankyou for your reply. It is interesting to me, because I had, perhaps wrongly, discounted any connection beteen the front detectors and the rear camera system with its own detectors when reading the circuit diagrams. I will recheck the diagrams to see if I have overlooked something. So far the problem has been permanent and not intermittenet but as yet only for a short while. It is interesting to know that in your case the problem comes and goes. Thankyou. Roger C.
  4. My model. XF-S 2010.5 MY 3.0lt. Diesel. Premium luxury. Front parking detectors, rear parking detectors and rear camera. Recently the front detectors have failed to indicate when I move towards a fixed object or notice if someone passes the front when the system is operative. The rear system and camera are all ok. I've looked at the circuit diagrams and notice that the parts common to the front sensors are the connectors, (a) under the front bumper and (b) the feed and return connector to the control unit in the boot. However I've just used my iCarsoft device and no faults show up. The volume was set to high to check them this morning and individually they sound when very close in, by me moving by the front. Water ingress is mentioned in the possible faults list on the internet. I'm wondering whether other members have had a similar problem and know which is the more likely fault, (a) or (b) or some thing completely different. Sadly I'm no longer able to tackle the "bumper off" to look for connectors and could eventually be at the mercy of a garage but would like more information beforehand if available. Roger C.
  5. My car happens to be: 2010.5 model year 3.0ltr. XF-S prem. lux. However my real interest is how closely members like their wheel alignment to be set to the mid point of the range. I've so far always used the Hunter system where they use the four wheel set up with a reflector on each wheel. Thinking about past visits the operator has always set the front and rear toe to the centre but I began to wonder if other Jaguar owners liked the castor and camber settings also to be brought into the centre point rather than leaving them in the margins even if still in the green and probably deemed ok. The thoughts and actions of others would be appreciated especially if there advantages to be had. Thanking you for your interest. Roger.
  6. Clearly I got carried away by the range of P Zero types available. Hence my query as above left me wondering which variant members had used eg. Corsa, Scorpion or others. So, it is plain P Zero. Got there in the end and thanks to you all. Roger.
  7. Pirelli P Zero appears to be a choice made by many members. I looked at the Pirelli website and found many options. I have an XF-S 2010 3.0 ltr D with 255/35/20 Senta wheels but am not sure which of the Pirelli to choose for the best result. Some guidance would be appreciated regarding which to choose or the preference of members for whatever reasons. Roger.
  8. Hello Peter. I'm almost out of this world , the chemo effect is awful, dizzy ,foggy headed and more. I should have included more in my post regarding my and Joan's situation, my fault entirely. Peter, PLEASE,PLEASE, do not feel guilty. Joan had to go into care in November; she's not over the moon about it but some things we cannot change. Due to her I've had a charmed life, Wifey has worshipped the ground I walked on almost from the day I took her home from a dance on my BSA B33 in 1958. She was 16 and one week, we married when she was 20 and one week; a chilly St Patrick's Day. Clearly we are of the same generation, your post uplifted me, thankyou, made me feel we had been friends for years. I could be squeezing 87 in a couple of years. May I wish you and your Lady continued happiness, thank each other for even the little things and keep loving each other, it is worth it's weight in gold. Regards Roger.
  9. Good Morning to you all and thanks for the warm welcome. My car: 2010.5 MY, XF-S 3.0 ltr Diesel, Premium luxury, 59,000miles now. Yes, the timing belt and tensioner are due for replacement. A little history; for a few years I've been the full time carer for my wife (Parkinson's 22 years) and used the main dealer "collect and return" facility since I'm too old for a courtesy car. Covid stopped collect and return. I'm now on my own and would have gone to Jagu Tech Ely (Cambs) but chemo prevents this now. So, I was hoping to find a reputable Independent who is able to collect and return and do the necessary work. I doubt I'll be driving for a while so perhaps there is no rush. I'm on the south side of Cambridge city. Kind regards, Roger.
  10. Good evening. I go by the name of Dos. I have had from new a Jaguar 3.0l D XF-S, mod year 2010.5 Premium Luxury. I admit to NOT being very computer savvy and joined the first forum I came across when I bought the car. In my view It became rather political in content and I lost interest. I came across this forum while searching about cam belt changes. I do have a problem but feel it is rather cheeky to ask for help on arrival. I'll try to search for the correct topic section soon. My best regards to you all. Dos, from Cambridge.
