What does FOB stand for?

I have a 2009 Jaguar XF, and my key was stolen. I went to the dealer in Charleston, SC, and they want to charge me damn near $2000 for a new key. Something is wrong with this picture. Can someone please tell me how I can get a key for my car. I called 15 car locksmiths in Charleston and none of them can help me. Curtis
