  1. Hey John, I eliminated the x type because it's either fwd or AWD and not rwd, thank you for the battery heavy usage info I have read a bit about it , but didn't know it could cause a lot of errors, and I eliminated the 2.5 because it seems way too underpowered and the 4.0 from the timing chain tensioner issue and I don't like the 2002 and older models because of the interior. From what I know the 3.0 and 4.2 engines aren't unreliable, but I want to hear and learn more about them so I can pick the best option for me.
  2. So I was looking into buying, an x type at first, but the things that changed my mind are, that the transfer case can fail between 50-80k kilometers if driven hard (also no rwd) and that it isn't that comfortable for a person that's 1.90cm or more. So I did the next most logical thing and went looking for an s type and right off the start I eliminated the 2.5, 2.7 and 4.0 engines, then I eliminated the pre interior facelift models and was wondering which engine is purely more reliable the 3.0 or 4.2? If you send any modified exhaust sound clips of both engines, I will really appreciate it.
