  1. Need a little advice on what I'm hoping will be an easy fix. I have an automatic 08 x-type estate, this morning the button on the shifter popped off as well as the spring behind it. Now the shifter is still moving up and down from park/drive/reverse etc but I don't want to leave it like this. Does anyone know if its possible to replace the head? I can only find information on manual gear stick heads, which obviously doesn't apply to my problem. Are there after market heads or is this a jaguar only parts situation that needs to be done with some special jaguar equipment? Because that would be just my luck. I feel like it should be an easy fix, but I'm usually wrong 🤣 Any help or pointers in the direction will be helpful
  2. I'm hoping someone can provide some guidance. I have a 2008 model Jaguar X Type, I inherited from my parents. When I took ownership of it probably 2 years ago the NSR window didn't work. I've never really looked into it as I had a number of other things I needed to fix first. However this week I decided with the nice weather to tackle the issue. I will say originally the window didn't work at all. The motor appeared dead. So I took the door panel off to have a look. Removed the motor and ordered a replacement motor. This arrived today. So I proceeded to install the new motor. Now this is where it gets weird. The new motor appears to work, because it does go down. However it won't come back up again. Down switch goes down, and up switch also goes down. Before anyone says it could be a switch issue, the problem exists when using both the nsr door switch or the driver master control switch. Down is down and up is down. I can't see any loose wires. Or anything out of place. I've removed the battery cables to try "reset the system" but still the same problem. I've wound the window all the way down until I hear it click, then try to wind it back up. But no luck. Down is down and up is still down. Tried to hold the lock button on the key fob to try and get the window to go up that way. Again no luck. I'm seriously confused. So, to ensure I wasn't going mad I got the old motor back out. Put it in and all of a sudden that was semi working again. However still down is down and up is down, it also goes only 3cm then stops (even when keeping down button held) it will go again if you re press the switch but nothing will make it go up and it only moves 3cm at a time. The entire situation is bizarre. Has anyone got any idea as to what the problem might be? I have a sad feeling an auto electrician is going to be required which i was really hoping to avoid the cost but I've search and searched and can't find anywhere with a similar problem that has a solution. Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
