  1. Hi Davenports and thanks for responding. I actually called out my breakdown service. The mechanic said the standard bolts were too long and would foul other components. Unless he was wrong it seems shorter bolts are required. So far I have failed to clarify this conundrum. Anyone know better?? 🙂🙃
  2. Hi! I got a flat tyre recently. When I went to fit the space saver spare wheel I discovered the shorter bolts supplied with same were missing. I checked a couple of spares sites ( Europarts, Autodoc etc) and found nothing which corresponded. Any ideas on OEM parts numbers and/or who could supply these either s/h or new? Cheers, Ian
  3. Hi, My recently-acquired diesel X type's dual mass flywheel is going the way of all flesh so I have ordered an aftermarket replacement plus a clutch kit while the gearbox is dropped out. The parts company says special tools are required for the clutch installation. Is this so and (if so) can the average non-specialist garage work around this issue? Thanks in advance for the collective wisdom 🙂 Istanbull
  4. Hello All! I'm a newbie here so be gentle with me. Very recently I bought a 2006 2.0 X-type diesel state as a second car. Driving it home (100+ miles) performance was fine and no strange noises. Today, nasty noises so I called out the breakdown company. I was told that the dual mass flywheel needs replacing. So first urgent question, is the flywheel for the petrol version compatible with my diesel version as I know where I can ge hold of a new one cheaply but need to act very swiftly. Thanks for all help and advice. Istanbull
