  1. I have a PayPal account. Let me have your details and the amount and I'll transfer.
  2. Thank you for your kind offer. My address is: Noel Bell 10 Rectory Road Hook Norton Banbury OX15 5QQ Tel: 07816151983 My S Type is the post face lift model so that cluster would probably be the better if packaging is a problem for both. If you let me have your bank details then I can transfer the money direct otherwise let me know how to get you the money for the postage. Yours Noel
  3. I feel it's possible I was not clear enough in my original post. The part I require is the instrument cluster although I don't really need the full binnacle - just the circuit card that holds the integral speaker. I'm hoping to de-solder the speaker and swap it out for the original on my cluster. I hope (and this is probably a vain hope - nothing is that simple on Jaguars) by doing this to avoid going through the rigmarole of having to re-configure a replacement binnacle.
  4. Hi I have lost audio warnings on my 2004 Jaguar S Type 2.7 diesel and think I have tracked the fault down to the integral speaker on the instrument panel. Has anyone tried to repair the panel in the past and can you offer some advice? And has anyone have a redundant instrument panel unit that they might be prepared to sell? Thank you Noel

Thank you fir your responses. I realise I'm stepping into dangerous territory fiddling with instruments and instrument clusters and I do it with great reluctance. I haven't really fiddled with cars at all for the last thirty years - not since my old MGB Roadster. As I understand it I've got a few options. In order of expense: 1) Do nothing and put up with the inconvenience. I'll have to do this for a few weeks anyway. 2) Take out the binnacle instrument cluster and see if, by some miracle, I can replace the integral speaker. 3) By a used replacement and try to fit - with all that that implies with re-configuring which I would have to get done by Jaguar anyway. 4) Having instrument cluster rebuilt by specialists. They could probably keep the configuration and current mileage etc. 5) Have the cluster replaced with a new one. Really is a non-starter at a cost of about £800 for the parts alone. Looks like number 1 or 2 for the moment. Noel

Thank you Cubist for your response. Looking a the wiring diagram it certainly seems like the speaker is integral to the instrumentation. So not much hope of an easy/cheap fix. But I'll keep looking. Noel

Hi I have lost the audio warnings for: indicator active, headlights on, seat-belt undone, door open etc. I've trawled through the workshop manual and although I can find the list of audible warnings I can find no details of the hardware responsible. I have found the circuit diagram for the electrics but that is of little help. I don't think the control unit is at fault as there is no other indication of any fault. The symptoms (initial distortion of sound warning then recovery before they were lost altogether) seem to suggest the speaker responsible for these warnings has been damaged or just given up the ghost. Can anyone tell me where this speaker is located so I can check it out before taking the car to the garage? Noel Bell
  9. Thanks for the prompt responses. I was afraid that grabbing it as someone else operates the washer might be the answer but I did not want to risk breaking the whole mechanism. I'll give it a go. Noel
  10. Hi I recently lost the washer jet trim from the nearside of the front bumper of my 2004 S-Type. I have bought a new trim and painted it ready for replacement however I cannot work out how to get the washer jet mechanism to extend so I can re-connect the new trim. The workshop manual I am using is remarkably coy about the process and only says, "Remove the washer jet trim," in a section about removing the front bumper cover. . It pictures the mechanism extended but gives no indication about how this is achieved. I have tried pulling it out but there is no movement. I'm probably being stupid and the answer is easy but would appreciate any help offered.
  11. Before you take a decision - the self levelling went on my nearside HID lamp last year and it was permanently set on low. As a result the car failed the MOT and it cost me nearly £800 for a complete nearside lamp unit - dipped and main beam. The HID lights are good but expensive to repair if they go wrong.
  12. Hi The luggage compartment on my 2004 S Type is jammed closed and will not open with either the remote fob, fascia release or the manual release on the boot itself. However it will open using the ignition key. When I try to open it using any of the electronic methods there is a faint click from behind the panel at the right of the boot - from the area of the Rear Electronic Module but nothing further. Is there a fuse controlling the boot opening or some other method of control? My vehicle does not have a Valet button that I can spot in the glove compartment so that cannot be the problem. I would appreciate any help and pointers to possible solutions. Noel Bell
