If you have had an OBD check I would think faulty earth wire.
-
Like Jon says a bit of a pain, but when you have done one the other is easier.

All the above Paul.

That's the trouble with Jags, there are so many variations.

Das lights can be changed, I read on one of the other Jag sites that it had been done, and yes you can change to LED.

Most of my driving is around town with little urban, due to trafic lights, road works. trafic jams etc I am lucky if I get 15mph. But what a drive.

You would appear to have done everything required. mine was difficult to do because the wiring is very tight. but once the tangs are released that is it basicly there should be nothing else in the way. Can you try and un plug the wiring.

Interior noise almost like road noise but doesnt go away on a good road surface.

Just had O/S/R wheel bearing replaced. cannot believe the differance it makes to road noise. It is surprising how these type of things just creep up on you.

All I can say is that somehow you have to pull the seal of the door frame. or off the car itself because it has two. and pack out the soft sealing piece with something like a strip of rubber and then replace and hopefully it will have restored the seal sufficiantly to stop wind noise. Sorry that is the best I can do to explain it.

Thank s to you and Peter for today Paul bit disappointed with turn out, 11. an excellent day. Sorry to hear of your troubles hope they turn out ok.
-
Pack it out behind the seal with some foam tape, seen it done on wheeler dealers. it s just that the rubber gets flattened.
-
No drilling required, mine took about 10 mins to fit.

Just come back from National Arboretum at Alrewas. MPG average 27.1.according to computer. must say fuel gage would suggest better than that.
-
I changed air filter a few months ago and I am sure it got worse after that.(cheep filter).
-
Right chaps. where would you start to increase fuel consumption. I seem to be ok on long distances, around 30mpg. tyres at 35 psi, no engine faults, but only doing 10-15 around town. mind we do have a lot of trafic lights, round a bouts and trafic jams, so suppose that doesnt help

Also it may have developed a inlet manifold gasket leek.

My 3 ltre fuse is in foot well No 32 and it is a 5amp I think, anyway it is yellow. all I did was to disturb it and it worked. also strangley the second time it went it was the plug in socket that was bad not the fuse. worth thinking about.

I am still positive it is an air leek. That beather pipe I mentioned is not blocked is it, it has a restricter at each end of only a few mm. so it will show same fault has a leek. I had same trouble. Have you had the codes read with obd2 tester.
-
T o me it sounds like an air leek. try the breather pipe on top of the engine and to where it disappears at back of engine, it has a elbow joint that is a known fault on S Types, you may have to remove it to find fault, usually a small crack.
