  1. Hi there, I'm in a similar boat I think. My 2003 model has only 80K on the clock but came up with a 'gearbox error' I even had a garage charge me nearly £70 to tell me that I needed a new gearbox. Anyway I'm not going to spend £1,500 on a recon being fitted, I'm gonna try buying one via ebay and get a friendly mechanic to fit it. Big question for me is, what should I buy? Is there an easy way to check what spec my gearbox is? Do I need a torque convertor? Any help from anyone would be superb :)
  2. Does Anybody else have any advice about alternators?
  3. I'm guessing that the voltage range does mean that the old unit is u/s? Are there any special tools needed? Is there just one type of replacement unit or many? Cheers guys...
  4. So I'm told that my dead battery is down to a faulty alternator that is giving out between 12.5 and 15.0 V. I therefore plan to replace it but is it straightforward? Hope you can help guys...!
  5. I've not long bought a lovely 2003 2.5 s type and I've already replaced the battery. The original battery failed a couple of times in the morning and was completely dead. This morning, the new battery is dead too, even though the car is regularly used. Would any of you kind chaps like to suggest where I should look first? I'd welcome any help here
