  1. No, not that its got a brand new ish (last year) Yuasa Silver £150 no less 900amp battery ( I have to turn my truss up 2 notches to carry it!)
  2. Hello my car has been brilliant but....there's always a but isn't there? The locking never worked correctly since I got it...so I just didn't bother, it appeared to be the off side passenger door which could be locked from the inside but not electronically, this played hell with the blipper so I just didn't bother, the car also had an occasional problem on the locking after start-up as well it always locked but sometimes wouldn't unlock after stopping to the degree that you had to open the window and operate the key in order to extricate oneself..not chic! Any way I was playing with the blipper the other day, just seeing if it had had a change of chip so to speak but all that happened is that it tried to lock, I could hear electickery happening, then it unlocked itself and flashed three times. Since then the battery has drained itself. This normally occurs overnight when I'm in a hurry the next morning usually takes about 3 days, but has happening in both the 1 and the 2 day varieties as well. Should I replace all the electrical switches on the doors... should I sell the car? Any advice much appreciated regards Brian
  3. Hello again the car is generally behaving itself just treated it to 4 new Pirellis! But it has just started a locking problem, after about 30 seconds of driving the central locking locks all the doors, I believe that this is normal? But.... Sometimes the doors won't unlock by use of the internal handle and the only way to escape is to wind the window down and insert the key into to external door lock and open it manually..... Very embarrassing any ideas? Any help much appreciated Brian
  4. Just been under the car giving it a clean behind the rear wheels (off side) got the wire brush out and WOW on the tubular rear subframe, the part that holds the upper wishbone...GOT a Hole about the size of a Half-Crown...that dates me doesn't it? What to do got brake pipes in the vicinity? Is this a Known so to speak. Is it weldable...is it scrap! is it dangerous...looks it Any advice much appreciated Brian
  5. Thanks for the kind thoughts.. Pam and I are going to a local meet in the Triumph on Sunday, It is a fairly faithful facsimile of a RHD TR8 even down to the Stromberg carburettors It is Poseidon Green and in pretty good shape has a non-pc fairly open exhaust system and sounds not unlike the cars as driven in "Bullet" no need for a Radio! Had it dyno'd @180bhp and seeing as it weighs nothing this means it's pretty quick and strangely economical...I can get 30+mpg on the Motorway...yes I know I'm just not trying hard enough! if I could work out how to include photos i'd post one for you? Cheers Brian
  6. Just to say an apology for the late replies, sadly had some bad news on the distaff side and a Cancer diagnosis, treatment to follow, excellent fast and professional service from the Local NHS, very impressed. Car wise I replaced all plugs and much more importantly all the coils this did make a difference and it now ticks over like a bloodhound lapping milk marvellous. I have had to also invite my alter-ego Mr H Robinson for some...er not entirely PC Aircon repair due to finding that the pipe had actually corroded completely in 2 parts.....Staggeringly...I have fixed it for the £5.00 + a can of Halfords refrigerant...I wouldn't want to tell how this was accomplished as I fear a law suit pending!
  7. I wonder, before I make a hash of it..The chrome trim on the o/s front bumper has a graze in it so I've just bought a replacement. Are these easy to fit..is there a knack..any tips on fitment much appreciated Regards Brian
  8. I recently had to order a new schrader valve for the Air Con inlet on my 2000 S type...believe it or not Jaguar demanded £24.00inc vat...I bought one cos I was desperate...it was the incorrect model and consequently didn't work. I then bought a BUMPER beano selection from a Trade factor and now have loads of both High side and Low side..if you need one let me know £6.00 each inc P+P...£24 quid though...wow! Anyway PM if you want one and I'll get one in the post to you asap..If uncertain send the broken one and I'll match it..If I don't happen to have one (I'd be surprised though) naturally I'll return the item to you. i will list them on a well know auction web site but thought ( as I only have 5 of each) that I'd let the forum know first. It may be of some help to you? Regards Brian
  9. Ok..I like to keep the fuel topped up and mine was quite low..especially as I am lending the car to my Daughter in Law tomorrow ( I KNOW this will end in tears!) Why though does the petrol pump only allow abour 3 seconds before it switches off...I'm assuming that I have some kind of problem with a tank breather? Any advice much appreciated Bonnietiler
  10. Just to report back as promised...Car had been laid up for 2 years with full service history prior... I had an intermittent misfire and flashing engine management light..the problem got worse as the engine got hotter. I replaced the the plugs and bolted it all back (inlet side) no difference, I replaced the three easy to get at Coils better...but still problematic...so I girded my loins and turned my truss up a notch and went back ...behind the intake again..replaced those three coils and...perfection. So really pleased if I could just work out how the glove box is retained i'd be well chuffed!
  11. I've been sold something that resembles a small cylindrical pressure cistern from a lavatory with a length of twine attached...I think he might have foreseen my arrival as it were! I've had a looksee and can see nowhere fo such a contraption to fit, I might have to put it in the darkest recesses of the kitchen drawer where all such ephemera reside!
  12. Slowly working through the car and find that the glove box just falls onto your knees if released, clearly there ought to be some king of restraint. I have had a look and can't for the life of me see where it should go, perhaps somebody would be good enough to enlighten me on this? Many thanks in advance Bonnietiler
  13. I have replaced the battery..made no difference but it is the correct version for the car, and that makes me feel better. I removed all three (easy side) spark plugs, all very wet replaced same and the car now starts but isn't brilliant. I have ordered new plugs and will replace all with new as well as those under the intake hopefully tomorrow and report back. Many thanks for the help so far though. Currently running my Triumph TR8....nausiatingly reliable, have covered 3500 miles over the Winter in it. Cheers Brian
  14. Thanks very much for tha advice I have just bought quite the biggest battery I've ever seen! I shall fit it tomorrow Should I leave the battery off for an hour to reset some electrical "brain" somewhere I wonder? I got a Whizz-bang Yuasa 5 year Chromium plated jobbie from Halfords today, luckily I also had my next door neighbours Trade Card...very satisfying
  15. Hello all nice to be here...I suspect that my problem is all of my own doing, just bought a 3 owner 2000 3 litre very nice full Jaguar service history 80k...it went very well all the way home..started first time whilst I waited for its tax disc..I cleaned the engine bay 2 days ago trying to be careful no pressure hoses etc, i've done it many times before. In the mean time the tiny battery as fitted when I bought it has virtually gone flat, I charge that with a clever fancy charger overnight Tax disc arrives this AM I remove charger turn the key engine runs..but wont rev feels like it's on maybe 5 cylinders sort of just enough power to back off drive I return the car to starting point and will now only turn over...not a peep from any cylinders..it does turn over very well indeed but other than that. Where should I look first...any help much appreciated. Sorry for my first visit to be a plea for help but... Regards Bonnietiler ( thats the bike that I used to ride and the job that I reluctantly used to do!)
