  1. ;) cap was off, i made that mistake before and created a bit of a mess. All the other pistons were fine rewinding apart from this one, time for a new caliper i think as i couldn't get it back in even with brute force. I've read the other ones fail more and the handbrake mech seizes up too. Apart from that the brakes are much better now, cheers kenny
  2. Hi All Decided to replace all discs and pads along with a bleed. Fronts were easy as pie, the rear offside was ok apart from shearing the rod that holds a rubber grommet on the lower caliper bolt. The last disc and pads are on the rear nearside now but the problem occurs when I try to re-seat the caliper and bolt it back up. I'm using a halford rewind tool and turning anticlockwise, the piston goes in so far then gets to a point where it only turns as opposed to turning and pushing back. am wondering if there is corrosion on the piston itself or maybe to much pressure in the system. Will try again now while cracking the bleed nipple to see if I can reduce pressure. Will keep you updated on progress. Ben
  3. Hi Mac I bought a used one on the Web and aiming to Fit it today after i've finished a disc/pad replacement and bleed. Having trouble with fully winding the last n/s/r piston back. I'll update you on fog light assembly ease of fitment once it's done. Not sure about the 100w bulbs though. Ben
  4. I previously used supermarket diesel in my 2L and the range would read about 590 miles when i brimmed it. Im on about my 10th tank of the top stuff and the range now regularly displays 640 miles. Cant notice much difference in pick up etc but the thought of prolonging the life of the injectors and spray patterns along with the range has very much persuaded me :). when the top stuff was £1.38 i worked out it was about £4-5 more than regular, i dont mind if it keeps her running smoothly. :) Ben
  5. Fingers crossed you get it sorted mate, its definitely a problem somewhere as my 2L d se was getting a steady indicated of 54mpg on a recent trip around European MWs. Normal crappy mw driving in the uk is 46-48. Ben
  6. Im lucky in that sense iv got 16s. Bad news this morning :(. Got some new tyres, downside is everything else. They couldnt adjust the tracking because both bolts at the end of the tracking rods are seized. Too add to that 1 of the bushes on rear left corner has gone giving the wheel negative camber, cant change the bush because the bolts have seized there aswell. Apparently they got heat on it as well but no luck :/ She might need a bit of TLC me thinks Ben
  7. Iv got mine in for alignment tomorrow also Jonny, terrible wear on the inside shoulders on the fronts. My dad told me about a website called BlackCircle that i used. Order the tyres online and price includes fitting, then you choose where you want it done. 2 x Dunlop Sport BluResponse (total 134 inc fitting) and tracking 30 quid. you also choose a time slot to take the car in. Im taking her in at 9 tomorrow in liverpool so will let you know how it all goes. Heres the website, tbf its probably similar to the kwikfit one http://www.blackcircles.com/ Ben
  8. I Think i'll do that Peter and stick to 16s. Although I love some of the mean looking x types towards the end of production with the larger wheels, Id never do anything to hinder the comfort! :) Ben
  9. No Idea Andy, Wheels that came with the car when i bought it. Ill see if i can find out though, tyres on them are R16s not 18s :(. Id love 18s though! Ben :)
  10. Cheers Guy! Would love to come to the meet, ill have a gander for the dates on here. Loving the Xtype, im finding any excuse to drive it. Start at JLR tomorrow so i'll get to drive it even more. Ill upload some photos once me and my mate have spent a weekend with the machine polisher :). Ben
  11. Hi Guys! Heres my first post on the forum. I recently landed myself a new job at Jag Land Rover in Gaydon so needed to get myself a car to get me from Birmingham during the week. Always wanted to own a Jag (and work there too), but after many years of owning small basic cars like Polos and Puntos i was simply in the habit of looking for another. Last week was different though as i spotted an xtype while driving passed a dealership in newark and instantly said "rrr theres an xtype, id flippin love to own one!". Anyway, on the way back home i thought id go have a look and sit in it for a laugh. Never actually thought id own one but was instantly in love and bought it there and then. Ive never sat in a car with a smile like that before and just new i had to have it. After having it for a week im not disappointed in anyway and im looking forward to my new 1 hour commute to Gaydon in my new Jag! Its quite a jump for me to have things that some people take for granted like air con or cruise control, so at 27 im still trying to get over the fact iv got all these new gadgets, more importantly, in my very own xtype! Cant wait to spend next weekend detailing her! Thanks for reading! Ben x-type 2L D SE (53)
