  1. Hi Peter Thanks for your response, I am leaning towards keeping the car I have as it drives like new. The depreciation doesn't really come into it as it probably isn't worth more than £7k now. It was more the mileage that concerned me but on these big V6 diesels with mainly motorway driving maybe I shouldn't be so concerned. Regards Moults
  2. Hi I currently enjoy a 59 plate XF 3.0 which I have now had for 3 years. My dilemma is as I now have 120,000 miles on the clock I am thinking of upgrading to a newer model. Given that this "wonderful" government of ours is bringing in ridiculous charges in the next couple of years for diesel cars sold before Sept 2015 (65) the only options I have is to go for the newer style 65 plate onwards. I can't stretch to a 3.0 yet so I am looking at maybe the 180bhp Portfolio. I do about 35k miles per year. My questions are, is the New XF 180 Portfolio any good ( I am concerned about going from a nice V6 3.0 to a 2.0 Mondeo engine.) Or should I just keep with my current car and pile more mileage on to it? I have an angel on one shoulder saying keep your money and carry on but the devil on the other saying "go on buy it you know you want to" Any advice that would help me to make up my mind is more than welcome.
  3. I would ask the dealer to clarify why there is no Satnav as the XF has it fitted as standard and should be there. Something isn't right?
  4. Hi Peter i agree, i think Sean has been misinformed
  5. As far as I am aware Jaguar don't make an XF with out a Satnav, I think more investigation is needed.
  6. Does anyone know if getting your XF serviced outside of the Main Dealer network affects your extended warranty? The fixed price servicing seems overpriced and when you add in the last time it was serviced by a main dealer they told me I needed new pads and discs all-round at a cost of (£600+). I declined and got it checked at a brake specialist who stated there was no need and here I am 16K miles later still no brake issues or warning lights etc. Is it worth going to an independent type of garage for the servicing? Cheers Steve
  7. Hi Chaps Good to see the Satnav is still generating a long debate. I still have my problem that since the updated DVD (2012 thanks Trevor) my radio is really poor and loses reception for a pastime. AM works fine but as soon as I drive any distance it drops the signal and struggles to regain it. In addition to that when I turn the engine off with the radio on and working fine when I restart the radio doesn't come on and I have to push the power switch at least twice to get it come on again. It is going in for a service in a couple of weeks but I am not holding out much hope in Jaguar sorting it! Steve
  8. Hi Trevor Thanks for the prompt response, I did try the original disk but I think it may have something to do with the software upgrade that was on your disk. Even with no disk the reception is still poor, I am back home tomorrow evening so I will do some fault finding over the weekend. I will make sure I haven't disturbed any leads when changing the disk etc. Cheers Steve
  9. Hi Guys After updating my maps on my satnav (Thanks Trevor) it has resulted in very poor radio reception on FM dropping the signal at regular intervals. HAs anyone else experienced this and is it possible to rollback to my previous version?
  10. Hi Trevor To add insult to injury I pulled out to overtake a caravan or 2 on the way into Yeovil and it went into restricted performance at about 3000 revs. This is the 1st time since I bought the car I have had to accelerate harder than normal and it took me by surprise. I puled over and when I restarted the error had gone, any ideas? cheers Steve
  11. Trevor I should have done the same with my 1st marriage in Pompey, if there had been a good film it would have saved me a lot of heartache and money!! Born and bred near Brighton so will be there on Monday! Bad news about the wedding especially as family should rise above issues.
  12. Definitely a bonus not being in the Midlands that's for sure. Off to Portsmouth tomorrow to see family, just as well I like driving
  13. Hi Trevor I will check to see if I somehow managed to disturb the aerial lead as I am sure you are right it shouldn't matter as long as it can read the DVD which it does
  14. Hi Trevor I finally managed to update my Satnav which was easy (thank you) but for some reason after the software update my radio reception is awful. Has anyone else had this problem?
  15. Hi Trevor The disk turned up today (unfortunately after I had left for the Midlands) I really am very grateful and if you ever need any fixings/drill bits etc (my business) just let me know and if you are ever in Torpoint drop in Cheers Steve
  16. Trevor I wanted to go to Halfords and the other half wanted to go to the supermarket and I figured it would be better than the Torpoint Ferry with the Grockles and Emmets. It was definitely better as we were not held up too much Cheers Steve
  17. Hi Trevor Thanks for this. I went to Bodmin this morning and the queue on the A30 as I went over the bridge was as far as I could see in both directions as I think everyone was leaving Cornwall early to get out of the rain Cheers Steve
  18. Trevor I am using cruise control far more than I used to, mainly so I don't get tempted to throw my licence away!! 35mpg is fine for a 3.0 but just a bit annoying when the figures say an average of 42 from a 3.0 Diesel. I bought mine from a Joshua so maybe the same person, to be fair I think he did give me a good deal for a car in this condition plus he let the mrs have a go in the new F Type so it put a smile on her face for a few weeks although she now wants one! She can have one if my numbers come up Cheers Steve
  19. Trevor I think country music is the only type I don't like! Bit of a concern about the XJ, I have to say I am delighted with my XF from Taunton Jaguar despite being over 4 years old it only had 29K miles on the clock. It is the nicest car I have driven but I am slightly disappointed by my MPG I am averaging 35 over the last 6000 miles and the biggest chunk of that is Motorway or dual carriageway and I sit between 75 and 80 mph most days. I thought I would have got nearer 40mpg but the car is still worth it. Cheers Steve
  20. Trevor I assume your member of the Royal family has a different taste in music to yourself? Cheers Steve
  21. Thanks Trevor If they let me into Cornwall they will let anyone in. Mind you driving into Cornwall on a Friday is never a good idea Thanks Steve
  22. Hi Trevor Makes a change from being called an old git!! Disks posted this morning Thanks Steve
  23. Trevor I couldn't expect you to travel so far (even if it is in a stunning car) I can post you the blank disc and send it back with the disks you kindly sent me Regards Steve
  24. Hi Trevor No problem I think the 3rd disk will be in the machine as one disk for each region is used Regards Steve
  25. Hi Trevor Just got back from my travels. Thank you very much for the disks but I do have one question should there be 3 disks as the UK isn't showing on any of the 2 in the box? Regards Steve
