  1. Big John, thanks for that , but it makes no logical or financial sense to have so many different parts? I can understand different part numbers to some degree, but still parts must be interchangeable. ie: early 1970s Bentleys had many Citroen parts for their suspension, early Range Rovers had parts from other cars, Jenson used other car parts, it’s common practice. If you take an x type apart you’ll find ford labels, Some Nissans have Renault parts , many cars are fitted with Mercedes engines, they will all have different part numbers, but will still be interchangeable! so surely someone must know what is interchangeable on the s type??
  2. Are there any real mechanics out there or are they just part fitters? Surely someone must know whether or not cats are interchangeable between s types? I cannot believe that a manufacturer would not produce interchangeable parts for their cars
  3. Can anyone tell me if the v6 cats fit the v8 4.0 I have been told Jaguar have discontinued cats for the v8 . If I cannot get spare cats there’s a distinct possibility of the car being forced to be scrapped thanks to jaguar
  4. I have been informed that Jaguar no longer makes cats for the s type v8 4.0 therefore can anyone answer these questions 1 does anyone supply these cats after market? 2 Are the any other cats that fit? If not then my car could be forced off the road by the manufacturer, Jaguar 😡
  5. Can someone please advice the best way to access the heater control valve on a v8 4.0 s type 2001
  6. I had this problem 5000 miles ago , and as stupid as it sounds it was all to do with the Key Fob battery being low. So before you do anything else please just change your key fob battery!
  7. Well this is a problem that I had. The answer was to change the battery in the key fob..........stupid I know.......but that was the problem
  8. Okay here's the problem (and the windows do not need resetting) The drivers window struggles to close and it sounds like it is rubbing too hard against the window rubbers, Any ideas as trhis seems to be a problem for many others, as it is just the drivers window. And no the window motor is not noisy
  9. Help! My key fob just stopped working, I replaced battery, and reprogrammed i.e. Hold flasher stork on flash, turn key to position 1 flash 4 times etc. That all works fine, led light flashes etc., but no audio sound? pressed key fob button the required times, led flashes, but no audio sound? THEN guess what the fob still doesn't work! Every thing locks on key still and car still locks when you engage drive. ANY ideas................? Tel
  10. Peter, I manage to locate the problem, some idiot has removed the sounder as a quick fix for an earlier problem!!!!!
  11. Can anyone help? I have read loads on the internet about these sensors, but my problem is that ALL the sensors click rapidly when reverse is selected but I have no audio sound. Any ideas why? and how do I fix it?
  12. Bob, Peter. I have changed my serpentine belt, which really needed doing, then checked all the fault codes with my reader, there was none! except one pending which was "Inflight Recorder" (very odd) and this has to be cleared by Jaguar! (It strikes me that Jaguar have build in codes that come up unnecessarily just to get you to go to a main dealer?????) The SC fault only comes up briefly if I have activated the trip computer!!? so now I leave that off whilst starting the car. On a side note to all reading, get your self a fault code reader, they are not expensive and you don't need an all singing/dancing one like the garages have. Terry
  13. Bob, I have fitted a new serpentine belt, which definitely needed doing. The fault SC etc., still comes up but only when the trip computer is selected on start up? I have check all the fault codes with my reader, and only one pending exists which refers to "Infight recorder?" but only Jaguar can clear this? On a side thought it makes you wonder if Jaguar have built in system faults just to get you to go to them to fix them?????
  14. Peter, thanks for that, but it is an SC System Fault, NOT, a DSC fault. I have change the serpentine belt and cleared all the fault messages, except one, which Jaguar has to do, referring to "Inflight Systems" beleive it or not.
  15. Hi, I've just purchased a 2003 XK8 and I've notice very briefly on start up a Fault warning A: SC System Fault. It's very brief but none the less it appears. I cannot find out what this is all about, so can anyone help, and does it need seeing to under warranty? Please email ASAP to teltrish221@btinternet.com Terry
