  1. Hi Gary and welcome to the club. I've had my 2.7 se for about 18 months now and it's never let me down. Having said that it's had a new battery and heater control valve. Your Must haves shouldn't be a problem mines got parking sensors front and back , heated seats , fold back mirrors, cruise control, memory seats and steering wheel. The foot peddles also can be electronicly adjusted. Things to look out for are , Sills corroded, water in boot ( that's where the battery is ) Cambelt replaced if over 105,000 miles, smooth gear changes if auto, heater working as it should and check on the government mot history Web site to make sure there are no nasty surprises waiting to appear. If you choose to purchase the car you won't look back because they are a pleasure to drive and you will go everywhere with a smile on your face. Gary.
  2. If the one off x type den is not the right one try eurojags. I got a used one of them for my 2.7 diesel for about £30 + vat and postage. Gary.
  3. Hi , I've only just noticed that after fitting a new battery a couple of weeks ago because of 'gearbox fault ' coming up on start up in the mornings (cold ones ) the lurch I had (second to first gear ) as also gone. Don't understand why but not complaining. Gary.
  4. Had it fitted in the week but problem still there so will have to look at the control panel next.
  5. Hi, I will let you know as soon as it's been fitted. Cheers, Gary.
  6. Hi Sal, I've got similar problem on my stype diesel , it blows hot on drivers side only. I was told the heater valve could be the problem so I bought a second Hand one from eurojag and its being fitted this week. Hopefully that will sort the problem out. Hope this helps , Gary.
  7. Hi,Possible candate for stupid question of the week but I fitted a new battery last week and when I filled up today the estimated range has gone up by 60mp tank full compared to what it usually says. It is just coincidence ? It's a 2.7 diesel auto. Cheers,Gary.
  8. I was 46 years old when I bought my jaguar and you don't drive the car it carries you to your destination with grace in space and at pace. I wouldn't have it any other way. Gary.
  9. Hi , My brother did the work for me and removing the battery didn't cause the fob to be reprogrammed. Gary.
  10. Hi , When I first got my jag both key fobs worked intermittently and was told it was a main dealer repair job but after a couple of months I decided to google the issue and found out that when I replaced the micro switches and the rubber pad the keys worked perfectly without the need to reprogram them. Hope this helps. Gary.
  11. Good morning , I'm getting the gearbox fault on startup which clears when I switch the car off then on again. I have been advised that it could be the battery which throws up error faults when it starts to lose its efficiency. Once started in the morning the problem doesn't come back until the next day. So I think the battery may be down on power when it's cold in the morning , maybe worth getting the battery tested. Gary.
  12. Hi Ian, Thanks for the advice I'll give them a call next week. Cheers Gary.
  13. I've just got back from mot test and great news the jag sailed through no advisories. So my next job is to get the cam belt replaced. So does anyone know of any jag specialist in the north west (Bolton/Wigan) area please. Any help will be mostly appreciated. Thanks Gary.
  14. Thanks Ron I'll let my friend know.
  15. Hi , My friend has just bought a stype 2.7 diesel 06 but the disc for the sat nav is corrupt. Does anyone know where to get a new disc from please. We've tried fleabay but can only find 02 disc. Thanks , Gary.
  16. Hi , I have taken a few pictures , hope they help.
  17. Hi, Sorry for the late reply but I will post a few photos in the morning. Regards, Gary.
  18. Hi Martin, I have an 05 but should be the same as yours under the bonnet. I can take a couple of pictures and post them on here so you can see where everything should be if you want. Gary.
  19. Hi, thanks for the replies it's very strange so I may disconnect battery as advised and see if that helps. If not then I'll go back to the old way of working out mpg. Top up tank do 100/200 miles top up again and work out how much fuel I've used. Thanks again, Gary.
  20. Hi all, I thought I'd try my stype 2.7 diesel in sport mode all the way home from work today and I noticed two things. 1 - When I stop accelerating after 70 mph at whatever speed 70,80,90 mph the gearbox changes up to 6th gear straight away. 2 - This one is most puzzling my trip home is 25 miles 18 miles being motorway and when I set off I had 404 miles left in the tank but when I got home I had 390 miles left. When I do the same with the gearbox in normal driving mode the range remaining would have been 379 miles. Its seems I get more mpg in sports mode which is very odd. Before you ask yes I'm sure it's in sports mode because the light is on and it stays in gear longer when accelerating. Thanks for listening , Gary.
  21. Evening all, Well the groaning noise was gone but was replaced in midweek by a very loud rattle from the front end. Upon further investigation I noticed one of the anti rattle clips on the outside pad was missing and the other was out of shape. Unfortunately the mechanic couldn't look at it for a couple of weeks so I bought some new clips and convinced by brother to help fit them thinking it would be a knuckle buster of a job. An hour later we were sitting in his kitchen having a brew wandering what all the panic was about. Moral of the story is before you call the mechanic just try to fix it yourself and you may be surprised be how straight forward the job is. Thanks for listening , Gary.
  22. Update - mechanic just brought Jag back and to my surprise the brakes were full of dust and just needed cleaning out. No more groaning.
  23. Evening all, Well I have had my Jaguar for 2 months and put 2000 trouble free and very happy miles on the clock and I noticed my front brakes are groaning when coming to a halt and when reversing a slight metal on metal noise. So I've have got my mechanic to look at the brakes and renew pads and discs if necessary. The car has been spot on apart from this issue and I'm hoping to keep her for the long term so next year I'm getting the cam belt changed and would like to know if it's worth changing the water pump while that's being done ? Thanks for listening , Gary. Stype 54 plate 2.7 diesel.
  24. thanks for all the advice. Gary.
  25. That's what on at the moment and they've been fine.
