  1. Hello everyone. I have a strange thing happen when I start my S Type 2.7 Diesel. The left hand message screen sometimes flashes ABS Fault when I start the car. It only says it momentarily and there are never any warning lights on the dash. Then yesterday, I hit a pothole and the Restricted Performance message showed and the car wouldnt rev. I stopped, sswitched the engine off and re started it amd no limited performance messages since but the abs one keeps appearing fleetingly and not every time I start the car. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Many thanks.
  2. Mmm...Jaguar and cheap solution don't tend to be good partners! I will keep you informed though. Cheers.
  3. Yes - excellent idea, I will do that. Thank you very much! First to google then to the rolling road methinks.
  4. Hi - yes, I gave it a full service myself after I got it and everything seems in order. There isn't a rear diff as mine is FWD - I checked everything out at the back and am at a loss as to the noise! I wonder if it is due to the cheapskate that owned it before me putting budget tyres on it? Thanks for the reply:-)
  5. Hi all I have a lovely X Type 2.1 V6 but it has a rather strange noise......It has had it since I bought it in July. When driving along I get a whining noise, not a bearing rumble, a whine. It seems to be coming from the rear of the car. I changed the ARB's and the lower rear arms as they all had play and I thought that was the cause of the problem as the wheels were able to move to the toe out position (as demonstrated by the wear on the inside of both rear tyres). Does anyone else have experience of this and know what I can do to sort it out? Regards
  6. Hello everybody! I have just joined so thought it sensible to say hello. I have always wanted a Jaguar X Type and so I finally got one at the beginning of July, selling my fragile Freelander. I have a 2003 2.1 V6 in lovely BRG with only 55k miles on the clock that I got for £2k and I have to say it is everything I hoped it would be. I gave it a service myself after I got it home, in which I replaced the rear lower arms as the had much play - I also replaced the rear ARB's. I have done a few thousand miles in it and it is running brilliantly. It does have a kind of whining noise which I think is from the rear of the car but it is hard to tell so I'd be very grateful if anyone can give me some pointers to look at? It doesnt spoil my Jag though and I'm really glad I got it! I had to change the parking sensor speaker and was told to remove the rear parcel shelf - being curious I removed the speaker box from under the shelf and was able to replace the speaker from underneath, including keeping and re using the rivets. I guess everyone on here will already know that this can be done but thought I'd share it as a way of trying to contribute! Regards to all
