  1. Brilliant, thanks for the reply. When I start the engine with my foot on the pedal, it doesn't drop at all, it stays hard and high up. I'll check the pipe tomorrow when I'm at home. Is the servo easy to change if it came to it? I'm not mechanic but I can do the odd bits, just wanted to avoid the fees from a garage if I can. I saw servos used online from breakers for about £40-50.
  2. Hi guys,I've got a 2006 X Type 2.0d. I've had a continuous issue with the brakes making a sort of loud 'honking' noise when I brake, coming from the back. Recently it has been a bit more continuous when reversing. However yesterday I found that my brake pedal would be hard to push down when driving and rock solid when stopped. After a while it'll go back down, but after braking 3-4 times it'll be rock solid again. It got worse today and then my engine management light came on earlier. Also, when the engine is off it'll be rock solid, then if I push my foot down hard on the pedal and start the engine, it doesn't go down at all.I'm presuming its a servo issue, but does anyone else have an idea before I take it to a garage? Thanks!
  3. Hi, For the past month or so I've noticed a rattling noise from 2.0d X-Type. If the clutch pedal is fully compressed then it's fine, but midway or when changing gear is quite a loud rattle. It's also even worse when it's cold and gradually getting louder! Could this be the flywheel and clutch? Or is it more likely to be something easier to fix? Thanks, Ben
  4. Hi guys! Cheers for the reply Des. It did turn out that it was the Camshaft Sensor. An £18 fix to what could have potentially been a very expensive bill is a huge relief! Thanks for the help.
  5. Diagnostics brings up fault code: P0251 (Injection pump fuel metering control. Cam/Rotor/Injector) Could it be the camshaft sensor?
  6. I haven't changed it no? Where abouts is it? The fuel only seems to have trouble getting from the pump to the injectors. I thought it would be the pump or potentially the sensor?
  7. So basically... The fuel is only going through the pump in very small amounts, and sometimes not at all. The pump manages to draw the fuel in from the priming pump, but not out of the other side to the injectors. Would the most likely thing be that the pump is knackered, or could it be the metering valve?
  8. Hi Frank, Been trying that already, still doesn't make it through that far. Going to try and bleed the fuel line and see if that works! Any other ideas? At a lost cause at the moment!
  9. We can get the fuel up with a priming pump, but it won't go any further towards the injectors now. Is it possible there could be an airlock? Or could it even be a sensor? I'm pretty stuck to be honest!
  10. Just been trying to start the car. There seems to be no fuel getting to the injectors or through the fuel pump. We've got the fuel up there, but it still won't start and the fuel doesn't stay. Could it be the filter or pump that are faulty? The fuel cut off switch is pushed in. Would it be anything to do with the immobiliser at all?
  11. Hi, just after a bit of quick assistant! Was just driving along at about 30mph, at about 2-3k revs. When the car lost all power, so I've pulled over to the middle of the road to try and get in to the petrol station when the car has completely died. The battery light came on initially when the power went. I've tried jumping it over with no success, and I have had to be towed home. Any ideas? Also, the car does turn over, it just won't start.
  12. It's tempting, but I imagine it'll be a bit of a hassle to do. I'm not too fussed about it to be honest!
  13. Cheers! I definitely don't have the powerfolding mirrors!
  14. How do the powerfolding mirrors operate? I thought it was from a button near where the electric mirrors are controlled from? I have the DVD player in the boot, so like you say, the CDC should be simple to fit. I'll try and find one for a reasonable price. Also, I can't seem to find the ACM for £200 now, I can only presume I found one for a newer Jaguar, because they seem to be priced more reasonably for the newer cars. Upon searching again the only genuine brand new one is £385! I'll keep an eye out on eBay and see if anything pops up there. I agree about the FM Transmitters. I'd rather burn everything to CD and play my music that way!
  15. Thanks for the replies guys. The car seems to have all the extras, other than the CD changer and electric folding mirrors! The Audio Connectivity Modules seem to be around £200+, quite pricey! Are there any other routes to installing an aux input? It also has a Bury hands free kit in, which has a 'music' option, which does play the music on my phone but not through the car radio/speakers? Is it at all possible to use the Bury hands free kit for this use? Just I have no instructions for it and I wondered if anyone with previous experience would know. Thanks, Ben
  16. Hi guys, I bought myself a grey 2006 2.0d X-Type SE a couple of weeks ago. Love it so far! Just a few questions though, I've got the built in touch screen display with sat nav. However I was just wondering if there was any to install an auxiliary lead? Or any way of connecting my iPod to play music without an FM Transmitter? Also, are CD Changers cheap to pick up and install? Surprisingly can't find one in the car!
