  1. Hi Paul I believe so yes, i'll have a good look though, there's been no overheating or anything on long runs, new cap arrived today so i'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the input guys
  2. Thanks for the reply Joe it's a 2004 2.5 litre It is an odd one, no gurgling noises from what I hear but i'll keep an ear out for it. The pressure in the system this morning was normal when I opened the expansion whereas previously even when cold the pressure was up. This was before the work completed obviously. Good call re the compression test, we did have a coil replaced so maybe this could indicate others are on their way out? i'm not sure if that will make a difference or not i'm not very techie... Can the cap leak when the pressure is up? it is new but from what I understand they aren't the best and most reliable caps in the world Thanks matey
  3. Hi guys So, had the Jag a good few months now, LOVE the car but had a couple of issues with the coolant system. It basically dumped all the water on the motorway after building up too much pressure, this was AFTER a wrongly diagnosed expansion tank problem which we replaced, we also did the water pump as this was leaking slightly too. All under warranty luckily Anyway, we had the heating valve replaced, radiator replaced as it was knackered AND the thermostat again, under warranty. All was well for a week or two and now the coolant cap seems to be spitting out water... awesome... I will obviously replace the cap (again) but is this something anyone can shed some light on? oh and we have had head gasket tests done numerous times... Thanks
  4. Hi john I feel your pain, I'm by no means a professional detailer but... Swirl marks drive me mad. Unless you actually remove some of the paint (t cut I think does this) you can't remove swirl marks as they are scratches in the paint. There's a ton you can do to fill them so you won't notice them. Peters right, swirl marks will happen with any car, but it's more often down to poor cleaning techniques. I use the two bucket method to avoid swirls but my neighbours call me mental. So, personally I use a decent deep cleanser, then a good wash/ conditioner then a good quality polish. Once that's done put a hard thick wax on the car. I use collonite, it's only £20 but the best wax I've used for a while and the shine is deep and swirl marks, hidden as the wax fills the fine scratches. Just means it needs doing every 6 months, the tin say a year but if you want less swirls...... ;) Enjoy the car, sounds awesome
  5. Thanks Gwyn, I settled with a very good condition 2.5. The mpg doesn't bother me much as its a weekend car really. I must say I miss getting into a car at the weekend and being excited to drive it. My Citroen doesn't give me many smiles per mile! Can't wait to pick in up in a couple weeks!
  6. Thanks Peter, no danger of that not happening, my neighbour always says I'll wear the paint out if I keep waxing my cars! Even my C1 gets that treatment. This one will be no exception of course! Although I'll now need some good leather care products to add to the range ;)
  7. Ok so I can confirm I am now the proud owner of my first jaguar s type! It is a 2004 red with cream interior, FSH 2 owner 2.5 litre beauty. I also did find some 3 litre cars for my budget but ended up buying on condition. The car also me comes with 12 months mot, 6 months warranty, a full service and gearbox oil change. It has every extra and only 69k on the clock. How you can get these cars for so little is nothing short of incredible. One very happy new forum member here. Thanks for the help, see you out there ;)

  9. Hi Pete Thanks for the reply and heads up re the car for sale, i'll check it out. I am in no hurry to find one and i'm keen to look for the right one. I've seen a couple on Autotrader, I do prefer the facelift (I believe 2002 onwards?) however there are some well cared for pre facelift for sale too. Is this worth considering? I know also rust can be an issue and to check the sills but which ones are these particularly? please don't hurry to reply, I bet most newbies ask these questions! Sam
  10. Hi all I'm Sam, i'm 31 and run a health and fitness business in Brighton. I have owned a number of cars from a Clio V6, honda civic, Alfa 159 and now, sadly my business car, a Citroen c1 (secretly love that thing). Since my wife commandered my Honda Civic I am thinking of buying an Jag S type 2.5/3 litre petrol. It's purely a weekend car so MPG isn't really an issue and I like silky petrol engine. My parents are often not in the country so when they ARE back they need a car they can use and so I suggested sharing the Jag, good for both parties ;) I was thikning BMW or MERC Anyway, I wanted to say hi to you all, any advice is greatly appreciated, I do tend to do alot of research before taking the plunge and i'm open more often to buying forum members cars as in my experience, they are better looked after!
