  1. Hi chapman. Thanks for ur reply. Are you London based? Also are you a jag mechanic? Could really do with linking with some like minded people who know what there talking about and can help me finally resolve this issue rather than skimming me every time I bring it to a garage. Cheers Mannix
  2. Thanks Jampot. It's makes total sense. Halfords confirmed it was a halfords battery. It's def about 2 years old but surely you would get more life out of it. Also, why has none of my previous specialists not picked this up?!?!?!
  3. Not late. I was waiting for some positive feedback from someone. I think first opportunity I am going to euro car parts and hopefully buy the exact battery I need for my car. I can't do nothing else after that... Will be a one way ticket to the scrapyard if that fails.
  4. Wish I could post att. Pic of receipt. Good, recharge VoLts 12.29 Measured 615 Rating 900 Batt type regular flooded Batt temp rabove 0
  5. In halfords, battery has 70% charge. Reading as good condition. Not recommending to change.
  6. Thanks Mate, appreciate it. Major limp mode at the moment. New alloys on now. 7.5" 235/50/17's all round. Heading to halfords now to see if they can test battery for me. Will probably change it also, but would prefer euro car parts. Might just do it today so I'm ta done... So much grief. The car has been breaking my heart for 18months. Are you London based? Cheers Mannix.
  7. Wheels changed tonight. Positive its made a difference, but I have yet to do major mileage. Although I did have Limp mode while in traffic. Idle started hopping from a steady 750 to below 400/300. I think that's when the limp mode kicked in. Would a dodgy battery cause the idle to behave like that? New Throttle body changed last week, and it was double checked a week later with a clean bill of health.
  8. OK will do. Had a pal look at my battery, it has a green indicator which says ok. Will still get it double checked. Ordered the wheels, told the jag supplier on phone my new updates, He said my XK wheels are way out for my car and will def cause faults. and problems. Delivery due on weds ... The mystery continues ...
  9. I actually had a quick look at the battery this morning. All seemed well, but again im not a mechanic and I do not have a voltage tester. I will double check around it to look for leaks etc. Would it be best to check after the rain?
  10. Just read a whole big thread regarding limp mode on a sister jag forum. People there saying moisture getting into the The Throttle body and sensors. But I had that replaced. Could there be something else letting in moisture? Im going with wheels and battery, but surely it can't be that simple a fix? There must be something more serious which is fundamentally wrong with the engine? and the whole setup ...
  11. PS: Got in the car this morning, drove 4 miles to work, no bother. Lol. Changes like the wind... Can I go somewhere local and ask them to check battery? Would they have a gadget for that?
  12. Hi Russ. I have a set of XK wheels. That's what I was told they were. 5 spoke 18" Alloy. Really nice wheels actually and I just done the tyres on them also, so a nice newish fresh set.
  13. HAHA! I will have to dig up my Sombrero for the occasion! OK, The plan is a set of second hand wheels from Ebay. Already discussed the deal with a supplier who has posted to me different bits already. So they should be ready for dispatch tomorrow. I checked a jag technical spec. 4 x 17" Tyres 235 / 50 / 17 (If I remember). 10 spoke Alloy. Supplier assures me they will fit my car. He asked for VIN number to double check. Plus 10% discount. New battery from Euro Car Parts... Wish me luck fellas. I cant do anymore with this car. I'm at the end of the road ...
  14. I am also getting a hyper active idle when stationary. Hopping at 750 and dropping below 500rpm. Even after just 10 mins of driving. New Throttle body replaced last week... If its the battery, I will eat my hat
  15. Hi Ken, Yes it does, and it done it today (again). Picked the car up , no lights or errors, drove for about a mile. Parked up turned engine off, went to put the windows up and turned the key and as electrics all come alive, ERROR/ PARKBREAK/ ENGINE FAULT/DSC ERROR. Red and amber lights. Put window up. Turned it all off, locked the car. Went to have a bite to eat come back an hr later. Got in the car and drove 3 miles home with no Errors or lights. I get limp mode when the car is in motion also. Is a faulty battery going to do that also? Doesn't the alternator charge the battery when in motion? Cheers Guys for all assistance. Mannix
  16. Is it possible with the car running so poorly in recent times that it could knock the socks out of the battery?
  17. Thank you Peter. I will investigate the new battery. Will be surprised to find if the jag specialist never flagged it last week. I felt like a numpty considering the E-types etc they deal with... Sent me away saying change the wheels...
  18. The car appears to be ok battery wise. Meaning all works and everything seems good. I'm not a mechanic so don't have the tools to checks volts etc. I will get on to euro car parts anyway. Would there be a big difference with X and S type batteries?
  19. Do you think a standard battery in halfords is a good idea, can they be trusted to give me what I need? or do I go to jag?
  20. PS: thanks for your replies btw Andy. Really appreciate it and all assistance.
  21. I thought the battery was changed, but under my watch. So it's at least 18month old. Was told it was recently replaced, so it would be no more then 2 year old, but that's what I was told. I get DSC error/ Parkbreak fault/ engine fault. Xmas tree dash. Limp mode. I will bring the wheels back to originals anyway and look into probably buying a new battery. It's a shame as its a lovely car and everyone loves it, but this constant limp mode is turning the car into a major lemon.
  22. Hi Andy, Been through a bunch of mechanics and found a jag specialist. New throttle body, service recently. ABS faults. I get Parkbreak/ DSC Engine Fault. Error. Yes he read the codes and Pinter it all back to wrong wheels. I bit of more than I can chew with this car. Out of my depth. I will get the correct wheels, limp mode will probably come back then I'm lost. It's a 3L V6 Sport , 2002 Auto. Petrol
