  2. hi wiring diagrams are above as yours is a 2002 is it preface lift 2002 or facelift, does it have the old dash or newer dash as wiring is different cheers Joe
  3. Hi look same as s-type they can stick if not used for long period of time I just operate mine once a week and never had any issues cheers Joe
  4. hi you need to remove the display and check for power at the connectors, could be a bad display if you need wiring diagrams look here http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  5. Hi its usually something to do with the remote, missimg screw and loose connection will do it, glad its sorted you'ld of thought the first thing he would of checked was the battery was fitted correct cheers Joe
  6. HI transponder is chip in key, remotes talk to door module. new remotes can only be added with software like Jaguar ids/sdd you cannot add remotes with any other procedure by pressing buttons or switching keys all post 2002 s-type are like this should of been programmed to the car when the key (transponder chip in key) was coded to the car cheers Joe
  7. Hi looks great The top side tend to hold quite well and look good and even better when detailed can also recomend when washing you car that a bit of time is spent cleaning the hidden bits, especially wheel arch area, and under side, sills and splash areas from wheels you be amazed how much salt this time of year accumalates in just a few days, when you snow foaming, do the arches and sills and if you use a wash/wax type wash, same again, It does eat the metal and alluminium. so easy to keep on top of I use a autobrite ceramic protection in the snow foam gun to do the arches and underside and it really does stop the dirt sticking cheers Joe
  8. Hi If you like tinkering with your car have a look at this link, lots of info to keep the car running http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  9. Hi Yes those are easier, you would'nt need the relay but would have to fabricate some kind of bulb holder, or even some old bulb holders and fix into them and solder wires on them they look ok though cheers Joe
  10. Hi Try charging the battery overnight These are really fussy about low battery voltages Diesel eat batteries, especially on short runs, they need at least 20 minutes running just to put back in, what was taken out, just by starting it if the overnight charge works, it may need a new battery if you do only short runs, you may want to purchase a smart charger like a CTEK to keep it topped up, thse can be left on all the time to keep the battery perfect cheers Joe
  11. The VVT does seem to get sticky, the flush seems to work well on these wonder how many people have replaced the VVT units when they just needed flushing would probably do another one, when you next change the oil. can recommend the Archoil products for this Glad your sorted cheers Joe
  12. hi if your after DRL indicators or DRL/Fogs have a look here Joes drl link Think I was the first to convert these over 7 years ago cheers Joe
  13. Hi Unless your buying a good one, as there reasonable expensive then I would no bother the cheaper ones will only mark the paint on the corners and edges as there not lined also the cheap ones dont breath, so the car will hold damp and will sweat like nothing you've seen ideally the best cover would be a car port, keeps the main elements off and allow the car breath and dry correct cheers Joe
  14. Hi were the injectors coded to the car, a lot of injectors these days have to be coded to the car to allow correct flow calibration have you checked it got fuel pressure, ideally with a mechanical gauge on the rail getting it plugged in with something like Jaguar SDD software might show more info where it can scan all the modules and see if theres any faults most generic code reader will only read engine ecu, which wont help, if you have a module fault, have seen some modern cars where they wont start because the alternator has failed and unplugging it, then the car will start If it were mine, I'd start with Jaguar SDD software, its the best out there cheers Joe
  15. Hi I would say the caliper fixing will be different centres, as the later STR teves brakes have different centres, which were fitted to a lot of XFs also your going to struggle with the rear brembo's, because the STR has two seperate calipers at the rear, one solely for the EPB parking caliper, which has a completely different hub assembly, where the XF had one caliper thats does both also the STR with brembos had 365mm front disks and 330mm rears, which will also be different cheers Joe
  16. Hi will either be for some accessory or transit relay, for when the car ws ne and in storage cheers Joe
  17. Hi you should name and shame them and at least others wont be caught out on here I have my STR insured with Footman James, on a classic policy, with agreed value and also car retention, which means if mine is beyond economical repair, they still pay me out in full to my agreed value and the car remains mine at no cost, very competitive prices and great UK call centre. Hope you get it sorted cheers Joe
  18. Hi Try auto reserve jaguar you may struggle with used ones as they fetched so much money scrap, most have been sold. you could buy a pair of performance cats, ideally 400 cell ones and get them welded in, for a lot cheaper than 1 new genuine one, most aftermarket performance cats are 200 cell, 200 cell will struggle pass mot and will give lots of fault codes. Standard cats on the STR have two 600 cell bricks in them. what up with yours, they rarely fail, only seen them fail when they have been run lean and they melt. cheers Joe
  19. hi when you connect a ameter to the battery, in series with the positive, the current flow should be about 30mA, thats 0.030 amps, you have to wait till the car goes asleep first, which after 60 minutes. any half decent auto electrician should be able to sort this really cheers Joe
  20. hi the touch screen is just a monitor all the video for stereo and navigation come from the nav unit in the boot, if your in the hidden menus and press update, all it will do is wipe the nav unit and render it useless, needs a special disc to update check all the connections on the nav unit in the boot, other wise the nav unit will need replacing also make sure battery is fully charged and also try disconnecting the battery, make sure you have code for cd player cheers Joe
  21. hi if its got the active sounder option, thats really common as already mentioned, battery fail in the sounder and drags the battery down. another is mine had a hidden tracker in the boot, Jaguar one, and theres a battery on that as well that can drag the battery down need to get a meter on the battery really and start pulling fuses, only way to find really, but your not looking at much, I bet about 1amp will do it, if you have a 90AH battery, thats means it will last 90 hours, thats a new good battery, old battery will last less favorite items are anything thats can get water in it, like central locking motors, window motors good luck with search cheers Joe
  22. Hi Paul Now when I retire, I'm thinking, Jaguar F-type R or Nissan GTR, only need two seats Definately wont be electric, technology not quite there yet cheers Joe
  23. hi ideally you need to check that the fuel pump is still running when it cuts out you need to find the pump and when it stops confirms its running , if not, check voltage at the pump, if theres no voltage, check as above, check all connections, fuses, relays, have a look here for manuals and wiring diagrams http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  24. Hi I have a S-type R and there great cars lots of info here to keep you going http://www.jagrepair.com/ cheers Joe
  25. hi if you cant find them, the hoses usually go to the oil filter housing/base, can you not swap that part so you can use the original hoses which engine do you have Thanks Joe
