  1. Thanks for the reply, I looked in the handbook shortly after posting this, the PN for the filters stated in the service book too. thanks again :)
  2. Hi, From what I understand the Speedo works off the ABS sensor on the nearside rear of the car. If both problems occured at the same time time it would point towards a faulty/failed ABS sensor. Hope this is of help Regards Phil.
  3. Hello, I decided I wanted to fit a long life/performance filter to my XJR, browsing the usual internet searches yeilded little helpful info as it appears that not many "aftermarket" performance products are available for this model - probably due to its short run of production. I only wanted a replacement panel to fit in the OEM airbox rather than a big flashy cone filter (too old & sensible for all that ;) ) eBay searches proved fruitless so I went on K&N's site and found one to fit my car - to save you the hassle of searching the part number is 33-2003 Most sites list this for VW's of various kinds, it also fits Volvo, Audi, Porsche and oddly Lada (but we'll keep that quiet) Its a perfect fit for the Jaguar airbox, can be cleaned & reused at service intervals and if you're an optimist it may even free up 0.5 BHP... Piper cross also do an equivalent, their PN is PP43 The K&N is available for a few pence under £40 delivered, Pipercross list theirs at around £35 K&N link - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-N-33-2003-Element-VW-Vanagon-1-9-1983-1985-/170628343445?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27ba3de695 (cheapest I could find and it arrived next day!) Pipercross - http://www.thepipercrossshop.co.uk/paneldisplay.asp?model=235&kit=1121 Hope this is of use to some of you, it works out cost effective after a couple of services and is more free flowing than a paper element. Phil :)
  4. Answered this one myself, simply droppped the dash panel out beneath the steering column then disconnected & reconnected the two plugs to the right of the column (one yellow & one black) Yellow one had a bit of a lose feel to it. Once reconnected firmly the warning has cleared.
  5. Hi, Has anyone come accross a similar fault? Occasionally whilst driving the "AIRBAG" text is displayed on the dash, usually after switching the ignition off and back on it clears. Being unfamiliar with Jaguars (at the moment) is there a connector plug/wiring/sensor/slip ring issue that is the common cause of this? The car is '95 XJR. Any advice to point me in the right direction would be appreciated :) Phil.
  6. Hello, Does anyone know the part number for the Jaguar oil filter to suit a 1995 XJR? I like to use genuine parts where possible (I know it makes no real difference, Im just picky) Also which oil is recommended/used for the AJ16? And what's the sump capacity? I've done a quick google search for both but the results have been a bit varied. Much appreciated. Phil.
  7. Hello all, New to this site and new to proud Jaguar ownership - having always been a fan of big engines and rear wheel drive (Many Capri's and BMW's over the years) I finally bought one of my dream cars - a 1995 X300 XJR! Only bought it on Sunday but have already decided its one of the best cars I've owned.... and I've owned a few. Cheers! Phil :)
