  1. PS. When you first fit it, ALL the rear lights come on. Just fire up the car and turn off and then it is back to normal.
  2. Thanks Joe. I had already replaced the fuses and bulb but as you say it is so easy to overlook the obvious. Fitted the module this morning and problem solved. :) For anyone who has this problem in future the module is on the right hand side of the boot. The parking brake unit is on a black plate held in by four 10mm bolts. Take the plate off ( leave the brake module alone) and the electronics module is held on to the reverse by four 10mm nuts. It is connected by five plugs. The unit is programmable but if you get one from a similar car ( mine is 56 2-7D Sport and the replacement came off a 57 2-7D Sport) it is just " plug and play". Also if anyone needs these offset 21/4 watt bulbs Amazon do 10 for £6.49. Nearly the same as Halfords charge for 2. Back to happy motoring, I do love this car !!!
  3. I think I have a problem with the rear electronics module on my 2006 2.7d S Type. the right hand brake light is always on. had to replace bulb and two fuses after a warning message. I have seen the module on ebay quite cheap. I've been told its on the right side of the boot behind the parking brake module. Can any one confirm this please? Also any tips on changing it.
  4. Hi. I have been looking for clears since I got my car. No luck whatsoever. I like the look of the body colour matched ones. Where did you get them Simon? Cheers
  5. HI Hi. Had a few problems with the elecrics on my 2006 model recently. Including twice refusing to lock with fob but Ok with key. Both times unlocked OK with fob. Once would not unlock from inside using door catch. Turned out the battery had only 12 volts and not the usual 12.6v. Might be worth a look.
  6. Hi to one and all. Just a post to introduce myself. Having looked for an S Type for a while (picking up tips etc from this site before buying) I have at last got it. Actually got it on Feb 28th but only just getting around to the introduction! I was looking for a 3.0 petrol as I don't do a lot of miles due to commuting in the company car. However I saw this 2.7D in a local garage. My choice of colour in and out, low miles, immaculate condition, new tyres, just serviced and 12 months mot. Seems to have every option available. I'll just have to go for a longer run every no and then to clean the dpf, (not a hardship I am sure you will agree!). Just been to Carlisle and back, averaged 49.5 mpg on the journey so there is one advantage of a diesel. As you can see I've already got the personal reg on ! Look forward to more posts soon. David
  7. Hi Gordon. I got mine from a company called 2xcite. £39 for the four fronts inc postage. Good product. I think looks a lot better (photo attached). I think the dark cars look better without rears but that's just personal taste. Only warning, Better let the WAG know or she might wonder what you have bought when " 2XCITE" shows up on the bank statement :)
  8. Hi Steve. Thanks for the welcome. I will take some pics when I can and put in the intro section. Sorry to take a while to get back to you. i am new to forums in general, didn't realise it was that quick! here is a photo of the area I sealed.Just a 2-3 mm bead of silicone and put the seal back just before it dries. Saw something on YouTube like this but can't find the link now. Still dry after more rain :) Cheers David

  10. Hi Steve. I bought my 2006 model 4 weeks ago. Small amount of water in the spare wheel well when I looked at it. The dealer said he would sort but still had problems when it rained all day at the start of March. I read all I could find about it and decided to have a go myself rather than take it back. I put a little silicon around the seals on the light clusters, then looked under the seal. Slight dampness along the top of the lip that the seal pushes onto at its lowest point. I read that this happens after a prolonged period of rain as the water creeps up the lip. This is not apparent if you hose it or car wash it as needs a long soak to happen. A bit of silicon along the top of the metal lip and refit the rubber seal before silicon dries seems to have cured this. I looked this morning after all that rain yesterday and dry as a bone. Hope this helps David
