  1. Fellow gents, I've got an issue with my headlights where the offside is pointed up about 3/4 feet where it should be at a normal distance and I'm being a nuisance to everyone with my dodgy headlight. From looking at it, it seems to be the whole lens is pointing up and I can't see a way off adjusting it. How do I go about sorting it? Cheers, Phil
  2. S type jag 2004 2.5 auto 110000 miles with loads of history,drives nicely £1200 ono Tel:07891903013 Ian
  3. Jaguar S Type 3 ltr petrol 2005. I have a minor oil leak I think from the sump gasket. I was quoted £560.00 by Guy Salmon to replace it. I understand it is a huge job but for that kind of money I'll put up with it. Any suggestions???
  4. Hello fello gents, I'm in the process of tidying up my new (old) grey S-Type 2.7d SE and in doing so, I'm having the alloys (BBS Melbournes) refurbished professionally. I have a tough choice; Gloss Black or Sparkling Silver? The car is grey and I've just purchased some absolutely beautiful red centre caps (PSA pictures). Which is why I believe Gloss Black is a good choice (+ the new jags look gorgeous in this colour scheme). However, with the classic look of the S-Type, would it look daft? Should I play safe with silver? Does anyone have a grey S-Type with black alloys? Or have an opinion on the matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Phil (PS I'm 23 years of age)
  5. Hi All, I've recently purchased a 2001 Jaguar S-Type Sport V6 which has recently been making a moaning noise intermittently after some hard acceleration. The sound appears to be coming from under the bonnet and in first thoughts sounded as if it was a belt rubbing on something in the engine bay, however after some close inspection this is not the case. It only appears when you apply very slight acceleration and can be heard both inside and outside of the car (more so inside). You will be able to hear the noise in the attached video. Thanks for taking the time to read this, any help would be much appreciated! Paul video-1466873764.mp4
  6. Hi there. Suddenly I have a very annoying rattle coming from what appears to be the ventilation ducts on the dash board. It almost sounds as though a piece of plastic or crispy leaf has got into the system. The noise only occurs when the car is moving over 50 kph. If any one has a diagram of the system, I can perhaps get into the ducting from the vents or even engine compartment. Thanks Tim
  7. Hi all, I'm new to this forum as I have recently become an owner of an s type sport 200. 2.5 in black year 2003. I'm trying to work out if it's a limited 1 of 200. I would really appreciate the help and advice from experienced member on this forum. Thanks in advance guys
  8. Hi guys, just managed to treat myself to an s type 2.5 sport 200 in black. I have owned an x type previously and enjoyed owning that it was great. I'll add a pic of it below. The s type is a different class all together I'll also add a picture below. Good to be here guys!!
  9. I have a problem with my jaguar 3.0 v6 (2000) it start 's fine from cold and ticks over normally at normal revs but when you press down the accelerator pedal the revs wont go over 3000 revs. When the pedal is pushed flat to the floor a lot of smoke is produced from the exhaust and a strong smell of fuel then the engine cuts out. The car contains no error codes and the engine management light does not come on. The car can be restarted again straight after but the same problem occurs when you depress the accelerator pedal. I have changed the spark plugs and coils and checked for any vacuum leaks but fault remains

  11. Hello All Just bought an S Type Jag. And a diesel to boot. So thought I would sign up and have a browse. I used to have a 4.0 XJ Sport which I foolishly part exchanged for a newer Mercedes Benz C180 Kompressor. Possibly one of the larger mistakes of my life... Anyway .. I fortunately convinced the wife that another Jag was the way to go. She didn't agree at first ... until she sat inside ... then she was sold ... and here we are as they say ... Back in the fold. And I must say .. the diesel engine is !Removed! good .....
  12. Hi, So i dug out the spare wheel from the boot the yesterday only to find it is different to the alloys on the car both are 17". I would like to purchase some of these 10 spoke ones, can anyone recommend somewhere? I have tried eBay, gumtree and a couple of breakers but not able to find 4 good ones. Or what wheels do you think look best? (even if its neither of these) What is the ride like on 18' wheels? All help will be much appreciated
  13. Just after a bit of advice on lights. The head lights on the passengers side of the car are broken (bulbs work but no longer attached inside properly and move around) so the entire unit will need to be replaced, i see this is a bigger job on the s type than many other cars haha) but i was wondering, should i go for the normal ones (currently on the car) or the xeons ones? Thanks
  14. Recently bought another 'S' type. 2000 model. High motorway miles but the price I paid for it was peanuts. Due to this it has problems. The strangest one is the trip computer. The display is often blank. Then when it wants to it comes on and works normally. But once you stop the car and turn off ignition it goes blank again until it decides to work again. I have tried disconnecting battery and reconnecting which has worked on previous vehicles. But not this one! There is a fault on the gearbox (usual 0795) which of course is a solenoid or could be a valve spring which again is a common fault. So I have another car with great engine and box but not so good body. However even this one is odd. Start the car and it will play up with gear changing. Turn off the ignition and restart and it will not play up for the rest of the day. The third problem is a speed sensor in the back brakes which means the traction light is on along with the abs. Now I am wondering if all faults could be connected to some faulty or loose wire? The weird thing is I bought it with a recent mot. On checking I was informed that it past the mot with no issues! Is someone telling Porkies or been slipped a few quid to do the mot? Lastly is the colour. It has Orange on the reg doc. The Vin numbers match (the one on the dashboard. However the car is in fact Gold coloured and I can find no evidence of the car ever being Orange!
  15. Hi Does anyone have an exploded view of the driver seat mechanical, electrics mine not going up or down. Many Thanks in advance Stu.
  16. Hi all, just introducing myself to the club. Recently bought 2003 S type V6 3.0L SE plus satnav etc. 65k miles and FJSH. Very happy although having to replace DCCV presently. Would be even happier if I could use my phone through it and could update sat nav. Regards
  17. Hi my s type is dumping what smells like petrol when I'm idling/stationary...only seems to do this when engine is running and I'm stationary. Also air con seems to be smelling a bit like petrol to at times and seems to not work on accessions...could the 2 be linked? does air con use petrol?...hoping someone can advise before i just put it in garage thanks
  18. I wonder, before I make a hash of it..The chrome trim on the o/s front bumper has a graze in it so I've just bought a replacement. Are these easy to fit..is there a knack..any tips on fitment much appreciated Regards Brian
  19. What do you call an older man's version of a mid-life crisis? In my case it's a 2005 blue 'S' type 2.7 diesel that I bought yesterday. Did I enjoy the drive back from Birmingham to North Wales? You bet. The only problem seemed to be that the heating was stuck on hot, with no apparent way of turning it down. This meant I had to drive with a couple of windows open - and Neil Young turned up a couple of extra notches on the excellent sound system. I have only had 'ordinary' cars before. I think I'm going to enjoy being a Jag owner. :D
  20. Ok..I like to keep the fuel topped up and mine was quite low..especially as I am lending the car to my Daughter in Law tomorrow ( I KNOW this will end in tears!) Why though does the petrol pump only allow abour 3 seconds before it switches off...I'm assuming that I have some kind of problem with a tank breather? Any advice much appreciated Bonnietiler
  21. Just to report back as promised...Car had been laid up for 2 years with full service history prior... I had an intermittent misfire and flashing engine management light..the problem got worse as the engine got hotter. I replaced the the plugs and bolted it all back (inlet side) no difference, I replaced the three easy to get at Coils better...but still problematic...so I girded my loins and turned my truss up a notch and went back ...behind the intake again..replaced those three coils and...perfection. So really pleased if I could just work out how the glove box is retained i'd be well chuffed!
  22. Hello Everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining early, I do not actually have a Jaguar yet but I am in need of some advice before I purchase one. I have found a T-Reg Jaguar 1999 S Type 3 Litre V6 Auto for sale and it sounds a little too good to be true so I would like some advice on whether I would be making a good decision or more a decision that would leave me out of pocket and soured by the experience. I have found this Jaguar for sale from a local repair & MOT garage near where i work (which we get all our company vehicles repaired at & my boss's Porsche). The S Type has not been moved or driven for about a year, overall there is no rust on the car, some minor scratches, a little bumper discolouration otherwise in pretty good condition for a '99 car. It will need at least one new tyre. The leather interior is used but not excessively, once given a clean and some treatment will look very good. I do not currently know the mileage but he has said it isn't more than 130,000 miles. This car had belonged to his sister & I have seen the V5 document to prove this. Now basically as this has sat there for a year this guy wants shot of the car and is only asking £300 for it, because he knows me through work etc. and being as he is a mechanic in an independent garage that is also MOT certified he can do the ongoing repair work and get it roadworthy etc (with a deal being made for parts to make it road worthy) . Also I trust this guys honesty as I have dealt with him over the last couple of years. I know its not been on the road for a while and this is all subject to him getting it up and road worthy to pass an MOT. I have always loved Jaguars and would dearly love to own one and this seems a perfect oppertunity. So basically, I would like to know if there is any real reason I shouldn't go for this car? Apologies for the length of the email. Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions offered. Pete
