  1. I took my Jaguar to my local garage to get fixed last winter. It was coughing and spluttering when I tried to start it in the cold. After this visit all was well. Jaguar seemed to work fine again, but I kept getting a yellow MIL warning light on the dash. I took at back and said about the light, and they messed with it and it went out. It happened again, the engine MIL warning light. The garage owner said I can;t seem to get this fixed, take it to the Jaguar dealer garage and see what they think. The Jaguar garage changed the battery, the alternator, some sensors in the steering and told me the ECU was potentially the problem as everything else had been changed I should drive it for a bit and see if the problem happens again. I was told I should be grateful as they had reduced the charges..... They kept the car for 3 months. The bill came to £2500 The car is worth about £2500. I got the car back and the light came on again. So I went online and bought a code scanner to see if I could see what was up with my car. Code P0401 Insufficient flow through EGR valve. I bought a £10 tin of EGR cleaner, went onto Youtube and watched a video on how to undo 4 bolts holding the EGR valve on. I undid the four bolts and a bit of "hand cut" tin can fell out onto my driveway. I cleaned out the EGR with the cleaner and blew it out with my air line, lots of black grot came out. Refitted it back to my car and reset the light. Drove 30 miles, no warning light. CAR NOW PERFECT So if you are in the Inverness area beware.............................
