  1. Definitely the diff. Had the same on my 2.7 diesel sport at 54000 miles! Jaguar no longer supply just the diff so had a secondhand one fitted. Trouble was they fitted a diff for the petrol version and I ended up with a serious gearbox problem. Beware!
  2. You maybe interested to know that my problem was diagnosed as needing something called a mechatronic(?). Been in the garage for a month partly because a new torque converter has been lost by the courier company. Expensive job. Not good for a car with only 56k on the clock!!
  3. I recently had the diff replaced on my 54 reg 2.7 S type diesel sport purchased second hand in March this year. It was replaced with a secondhand like for like unit. After picking up the car about 5 mins down the road, a warning light came up stating that there was a gearbox fault. There is no real problem in the operation of the box when driving and the warning was not there before I took the car in. I took to a Jag garage who connected it up to find the fault codes. I don't know what they were but they said it could be a problem with the box itself or with the ECU. It is to be investigated further this week. I am not much of a techie and new to Jag ownership so I wonder if anyone has any comments to offer on the problem. It just seems a coincidence that the warning started after the work on the diff!
