Dodgy front doors.
i dont know how relivent this is but i had an old car where this happened and it was a motor that undid the locks that was slightly out, see if you can unlock the doors directly with the key not the fob. only an idea though :)

driver side dipped beam is out, not the buld and dont think its a fuse ...
So my much loved x-type 3.0 has an issue, the right hand side dipped beam is out, I dont think its the fuse (would like to check i changed the right one), have change the bulb. is there anything else to check that isn't to tricky before I go to the dark place with holes in the floor where they take £45 every hour? i would really appreciate any informed ideas even if they just make me sound not to stupid at the garage. Thanks a lot in advance.

21 and have had mine for a few months, alarmining cheap to insure for a 3l xtype. got to say you get let out more in a jag than a mr2 :)

Buying x type 3.0 se tomorrow
unsure if that is common, but the sills are, as are dodgy transfer boxes and bad rubber parts, a good service history is a must as ever and look out for rust any where as if there is some there will be more i expect. hope it goes well

Okay i must admit i thought this earlier and felt it un-jaglike to say but ... find some mud rev and drop the clutch with traction off (less effective if auto), get out, see if the rear has a mud splater like the front and if it sprayed up the back. I know, childish and silly, but free and will work.

okay so where did the s-type find 10bhp for the v6
Now i love the 3.0 x-type, it's plenty quick enough for how i use it, the power wooshes up in silence and with the sports pack the road is navigated with tranquility and grace. BUT I want to know why the s-type got 10 more bhp and a bit more nm tourqe. I hear it my be due to heat, if so that'll lower mpg also and i can get 10hp while provoking less engine wear. Any one have any ideas?

Hi all i have been having a glance at the fourm after buying a2001 3.0v6 xtype with low millage and full service history. there were two things i had to look out for, rusted sills so an MOT at there expence, new gear box should get rid of tranfer issues? but is there any 3.0l sport 2001 specific issues i should of been more careful of?

Hi there, have just put the deposite on my first. what i found out is that pre 2003 all were 4wd with a viscous lsd, affter that the lsd was changed (so if you had an old and now a new it'll feel a little different or visa versa). The 2.5 and 3.0 were all 4wd the diesiel were not, and i dont think the 2.0 were so had better fule eco but am unsure. Hopefully this helps a tad.
