Quick update - just contacted my local Jaguar dealer who has quoted, a very reasonable, £60 and 45 minutes to do this!

Hi I have just picked up a 57 plate S-Type 2.7D which came with 2 key fobs. One works fine but the other looks like new but is totally inoperative. I guessed it was the spare and the battery had expired, so I replaced the battery but it still doesn't work. Several searches on t'internet have revealed that it needs re-coding to the car (along with the one that works) and that it can ONLY be done by a dealer with IDS?? Can anyone confirm whether this is true and, if so, how much it is likely to cost? Thanks Maggle

I've just picked up my first ever Jag - a 2.7 Diesel S-Type SE - 57 Plate, blue with cream interior - haven't driven it much because of the snow....using my Freelander for that ;-) but loving it already
