I think I've found the problem. On disconnecting the fibre optic cable is looks dead (no light through it) hopefully it's a fuse. When I get a replacement handbook I'll try it. Keep you posted.

Thanks peter. It is not the touch screen type. I'll see at the weekend if I can spot something obvious from the boot end.

Hi guys (and gals). I'm a newby having picked up my 54 plate Xtype 2.0d in British racing green. Already love it to bits although have a couple of minor issues. Cd changer in boot will not start. I can eject the cassette and reload with disks but when I press the CDC button nothing happens. Also can't seem to work out how to pair phone. When i press the phone button I get "no phone". Are the two problems connected with a fibre cable issue ? Cheers in advance.
