    Thanks for all the info everyone. I think a diesel is the way to go, I definitely want an automatic, do they do a auto in the 2l model? I've been keeping an eye out but I'm struggling to find one that I like though.

    Hi Guys, I've always been a fan of Jaguars and am now finally able to buy one! I want to get an x-type (2007+) and looking for some advice about what type to get. I need to be able to get 35+ mpg around town, I'm not really sure what mpg the petrol model gets though. Buy I know there's the 2.0l D, 2.2l D, and the 2.5 V6 P - which one is the best (very subjective I know). Also, when going to view what checks should I do before buying, and any common faults? Thanks!
