Hello everyone. I am sure this has been posted before but i will be damned if i can find it!

My X-Type 2.2 D has unfortunatly gained the noisy tensioner fault on low revs and idle (even worse with the AC on!).

I know i need to purchase the £200 Jaguar upgrade kit but i hear it is an animal to fit myself and i was wondering if anybody knew of a place in hampshire that could do this for me at a reasonable price? Many thanks and hope someone can help.

Just done the upgrade on the wife's car. Took about three an a half hours. Not an easy job. Any garage used to mk3 Mondeos will be able to do it in half the time. If I where you I would supply the parts. At least then you know you have the right parts fitted.

BTW It was only the bottom pulley that needed changing on San's car but I changed all the parts as I'd bought them. If I had changed just the pulley it would have taken about an hour and a half.

Thanks Iansan. I will maybe just dedicate a day to do the job, especially if it is only the one pulley. I hear that the upgrade kit just prevents the fault from returning in the future but by changing just one pulley the fault could return. I will get some quotes from a few places before making a decision. Thank you very much for your information.

If you can find a willing pair of hands its a lot easier, I (we) did one the other week and did a de-cat at the same time we did both in about 90 mins or so, I have the tensioner tool that you can borrow if needed. If you fancy a ride to Leeds I will do it for you with your help.

Hello Mark. Thanks very much for your information and offer of assistance. Unfortunately i am down i Southampton so would be a bit of a journey, especially if any complications were to arise half way through the job haha! But thank you very much I do appreciate the offer. I will just get my dad to give me a hand on a weekend. Sounds like it will be more beneficial to do it on the driveway. Thanks again.

John.
