Hi guys,

I am looking forward to some nice fun chats in this forum, hopefully not all breakdown/maintenance chat.

i am picking my 2010 xf-s diesel up in a few days, being new to Auto boxes i was wondering if there might be any advice out there regarding the fancy dial gear mode selector, or the E-Brake perhaps.

when to select park? or neutral? E-brake at traffic lights? what happens if i turn off the engine whilst still in drive mode?

stuff like that, anything will be helpfull.

many thanks in advance

Lots of Love,  NIck

Hi Nick,

Hope you got your XFS ok and are loving itI

Got mine at about the same time as you so we must be learning together.

I generally only drive autos and tend only to use the parking brake on a hill, on the flat just using the Park which locks the drivetrain. Mine is a 2012 facelift model, but I would think yours is the same. When in traffic and D is selected, you can put the Ebrake on and then drive away and the Ebrake comes off automatically. If you turn off the engine with the gear selector in Drive, as the selector sinks into the console it turns itself round to the Park position, very cool!
